Another Newb PC build with some questions.

This being my 1st personal PC build and haven't touch an inside of a case in seven years my knowledge of all hardware has been throwing outside the window. So now with my first personal build I was going to go with a budget build but since I feel that this desktop will keep me going for well over 5 years I've decided that a budget PC probably won't be the smartest idea so with that said, let the fun begin.

My CPU choice:

Question, Can this GPU with the HDMI port support my 32" 1080p tv or do I need a 2nd one? I don't plan on playing Crysis on high or anything of that caliber, I just want to make sure it can play my videos without any blurring or hiccups, Oh and Command and Conquer Generals :D Also Sapphire or XFX?

its not a bad build so far but there need to be some improvements made. first of all the case is absolutely unacceptable.

for a cheap case this amazing!

full tower case with 2 250mm fans for 90 bucks.

also ur psu is not good. corsair is the best brand period.

this is a beauty!! fully modular and plenty powerful for 100 bucks after rebate. just cant beat that.

take a look at the 5830 or 5850 to be fully future proof. while cheap, the 5770 is not going to be able to keep up for much longer. its weaker than my 4890. consider spending extra to get better
 
what is your total budget on this build?

are you hoping to do gaming in five years or just hoping to be able to run the pc in five years?

the hd 5770 will be able to handle playing movies :P it will even do a good job on crysis :good: if you don't want to play games then you could get away just with the onboard gpu (hd 4200).

he didnt specify thank you. besides what I suggested wasnt much. he NEEDS what I suggested. the psu he chose WILL NOT FLY
 
Thanks for the ideas but I should've specified that using that case and PSU is way out of my budget. I went to go talk to a couple Best Buy guys and they said that my 460w psu is way too low so I'll be getting a 600ish Watt PSU. What do you have against Cooler Masters? I know of a guy who has both and he swears by them.

um, no, he doesn't NEED a $130 case and a 650w psu, assuming he goes with an hd 5xxx series card. something in the 500-600w range should be ok since he is on a tight budget.

no such thing. besides, he already said he doesn't want to do intensive gaming, just video file playing and a game from 2003.

so what is your budget?

look I didnt say he needed THAT hx650w. its just really really good. fine he could get a 550 if he wanted. and ur math fails because the xclio windtunnel is 90 bucks.
 
To the OP. I dont know what "Command and Conquer Generals" is but if you dont play games Micro Center still has some ATI All in Wonder Cards for $49 that will play HD anything just fine, I know I bought one for fun. It plays just as good as my $500 2gb card. I would not go with DDR2 RAM at this point though.

Sometimes I wonder if this forums get caried away with high end power supplies. I know that I usually recomend more than is needed because if I don't others will say it was a bad recomendation. I bet millions of people use PSU's that we would laugh at here troublefree. You can find a decent PSU for general use like this one which is still good quality.

I am sure that case is fine. My first case was $29 and it did its job. I love the case that is in my sig. If you do not want a noisy computer and you do not plan to run a big GPU or a big overclock, gaming cases just add noise where you might not want noise when watching movies. If you are not buildinga gaming computer you dont want all of the fans and noise, you also want less openings in the front for fans. This was my first case, it is way overpriced here but it made my computer much less noisy (than a gaming case)since I think you are building a different computer than most of us. I am not telling you to get it just understand the diff.

I would recomend you get an i5-750 intel CPU, it is rated at a lower mhz but it is faster than what you chose. Many people see the higher AMD rating and think they are faster, they are not. Maybe you already know that.

I also forgot even when I was talking to another guy that I am planning on getting APB when it comes out. But as of now I got the PSU and a 500gb HDD. Next week It will be either tower/graphics card/Ram.

As much as I would like to I don't want to spend more than I need to and ddr3 setup is something I don't need as of now. Yes in the future this decision might bite me in the ass but i'll survive for now.
 
Another quick question. Would it be smart of me to get a motherboard with dedicated HDMI port on it JUST IN CASE something were to happen to my GPU or am I just being way to paranoid?

Sure if your worried about it. If your getting a DDR2 board get a 785 or a 790GX board.
