Does anybody know the dba(noise lvl) for the 120 fans?

I hate noisy computers and the Antec fans are doing just that. Does anybody know of any 120mm fans that is near silent?

thanks

The 900 here won't even let you know it's even running unless you happen to see the blue light. Antec fans bought in retail chains like Circuit City and a few office supply stores have always been quiet from what has been seen here on several builds. You may want to look over thing inside to see if anything else is loose and vibrating.

Yeah, on medium and high settings they are noisy. That's just the way tri-speed fans are. To fix that, check the switch setting, make sure it's on low.

I run all fans on the high settings since the 120s along with the top 200mm fan run straight off of the supply without any controller even used. The only fan with a controller is the one seen on the Zalman 9700 cpu cooler in use.

Ya i can notice the noise increase going from low to medium.

I only keep one 120mm fan running on low. Thats the one on the back of the case and it is still making incredibly noticeable noise.

The two on the front...will they both light up blue but two difference kinda of blue so I just keep them unploughed.

all my temps are under 22c beside the video card that runs at 56c. I think I will add another fan to blow air onto the video card.

But does anybody own a 120mm fan that is silent?

thanks

I have a stock hp case and after my install of my graphics card I went out and bought 2 Antec Blue led fans. I think they are great. The only thing i dont like is that the high setting is too high and the med setting is too low. I keep my rear one on high and the side fan on med.

I took one of the 120s used on the side cover on the prebuild and put it on the 900 and it still runs like it wasn't even there. You may simply have a bad pair needing to be replaced if it isn't from something else. The last case here was quiet but louder with fewer fans since the front and rear were included on the AeroCool model case there.

Well, clearly our friend once again shows his ignorance of anything PC. The Antec 900 fans come stock with a three-way switch (fan speed controller) on each individual fan.

I'll let the audience be the judge of his credibility and knowledge.

A controller controls fan speeds. It doesn't matter if it's a switch, a dial, a knob or whatever.. It's a controller. By the way, how do you always run a fan on high if there's no controller ace? If there's no controller, there's only one setting.

You don't know your arse from a hole in the ground. Someone calls you on your crap, as usual, and as usual you try and backpedal. When the blind lead the blind, they both fall in a pit. They say misery loves company, so I have no doubt you'd like nothing more than to lure as many unsuspecting travellers into your little pit of stupidity.

accchooooo....! gesunheit! Must be spring with all the allergens or some weekend psycho that follows you around from thread ro thread like a stalker. "psycho" "obseesion" and whatever else applies.

Or boredom. Waiting for computers to finish their installs can be really boring. I don't follow you. I just stumble upon threads that interest me and low and behold, there's you making the typical fool of yourself. It's an easy mark. Almost like shooting fish in a barrel....except fish probably know more about computers than you do.

You're still up?! No parental supervision I guess. It's ready well past your bed time there. Let me know when you mature a little so you finally get off the "ignorant" list. Otherwise...

The Antec Tri-cool fans are anything but quiet except in the "low" speed mode. They quickly become audible in medium/high mode, even in the P180, which is a MUCH better sound dampening case compared to the 900.

3:30 AM and still at the office working last night...

Come give us a kiss you big oaf.

If you can't tell your three tri-cools are on by hearing them there's either something else very loud drowning them out in the room or your hearing is substantially impaired.

If you can't tell your three tri-cools are on by hearing them and they're on medium or high, you are deaf.

edit:

As for replacing them with Nexus or any other fan, there's really no difference aside from RPM and CFM. I believe the low setting on tri-cools is 1200RPM. Nexus "real silent" fans, of which I currently have two in my case, have a max RPM of 1000 at 12V. When undervolted they can get down to ~600RPM like I have mine. There's no way to get the same airflow with a Nexus fan that you can with a tri-cool and they really don't belong in any expensive computer that makes a lot of heat.

Great points. Thanks. Maybe I'll reconsider. :)

Being honest, I don't find my 900 load at all!

I have the top 200mm and the Tuniq Tower on full, and the rest on Medium and it's really quiet. Well, it is compared to my old case that was full of 80mm's
