I was able to get my Q6600 up to 3.85GHz using water cooling, or up to 3.6GHz using air cooling.
You probably have a bottleneck someplace else, most likely the memory. You also don't want the memory to be separate from the FSB, as that lowers performance.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the G0?you might not have the G0 stepping. that could have something to do with it, methinks.
I don't know what it is called but it is attached to both the underside and dirrectly to the CPU. The CPU is running at about 22-24 degrees at idle @ 2.6 . It is of my opinion that the heatsink is not the problem, rather my ability to OC or the CPU really is a dud.Even with a B3 it should OC past that speed. Are you overheating? What heatsink do you have and is it seated correctly?

I have the G0. And it does run really cool, but I don't know if that is my heat sink doing as most of the time at idle it runs about 22 deg.G0 and B3 are slightly different architectures from what i've heard about it. G0 is the newer one, and it runs cooler than the B3 one.

I cant overclock my q6600 past 2.6GHz either, but I think its related to the motherboard not officially supporting the cpu
jsut wondering btw, but do you have the SATA spread spectrum, and the PCI spread spectrum enabled? iirc the frequenties of that kind of stuff gets higher too when you overclock, and that really cant be overclocked (at least not much) before it causes system instabillity
Well said, but G0 and B3 are technically called the revision, the stepping (for the G0) is just B.Some people seem to be confused about these "G0"s and "B3"s
"G0" and "B3" aren't really architectures, they're Steppings (or revisions, as some call them). It's kind of like a versioning system for processors. Letters reflect major changes, whereas numbers reflect minor changes. However, the actual architecture is basically same...of course changes are made, but still.
