So i bought this mobo with a AMD athlon 64 x2 3800 and after putting everything together my pc did not power up. I've narrowed it down to 2 possible problems i did the system panel header wrong, and i can't find the cord that goes into the chassis fan connector.

Do you have a case fan in your case? because it can be either a 3 pin connector on the mainboard, or a 4 pin molex (like in your optical drives)
however... ive never seen a casefan preventing something from booting.

If you try to put the pc on... what exacly happens?

If all your front panel wires are in there right positions.

If another thing you haven't checked is the PSU, totally disconnect it from the board, take it out, and get a paper clip, ground the green and any black wire on the 24pin connector, then press the on/off switch on your psu and see if it starts up/ fan spins.
