I am having an issue with my ASUS M4A79 Deluxe not booting. I am running AMD Phenom X4 9950, 4 Gig Ram, GeForce 8800 GT video card, 1.5 TB HDD. According to ASUS power calculations, I am about 200 watts short on the power supply as I have a 550 watt installed. I understand that this can cause stability issues and do not have a problem with a replacement if this is the only problem. My question is, not only can I not get the system to boot to BIOS, I cannot even get a flicker on the screen and the power LED will only flicker a few times and then goes dark. The case I purchased did not have a beep speaker connector so I cannot do any analyzation on that level. Also, the manual states the 8 pin EATX connection must be made or the system will not boot. My board had four of the eight slots covered and my 550 PSU only had a four slot plug. Can this be further non boot evidence of insufficent power?
This is my first system build and I do learn from my mistakes. Any help on this will be very much appreciated.
