Ati Radeon X850

hey, i just installed an x850 and installed all the catalyst...however green/red lines go across my monitor, and when i load a game, green/red splotches spot up and go away constantly.

any ideas?

Use either the ATI Catalyst Control Center or ATI Tool to check your temp.

It should be listed under "overdrive" if you have that option.

well neither does my card, the easiest way is probably to google for "ATI Tool", then download and install it. It will show you the temps of your card as well as letting you overclock it if you wish.

i don't see how overclocking will help the colored splotches

it wont, i was just letting you know that ATI tool is good for more than just temp monitoring.

heh, well when i load the "view 3d model" in ati tool, it has yellow splotches on it :\ and in Call of Duty 2, the sky is splotched with black and red..

does anyone know how to fix this?

It may be overheating, what do the temps read?

sounds like your monitor cord is being crushed to me.

try underclocking the card and see what happens, my friend had this problem before w/ the 7800gt, he end up returning it.

yup, my x850xt has artifacts and never goes above 60 degrees...just return it and get another card. If it has the same problem then you know the problem is your comp.
