Hey, so whenever I try to play Fallout or Fallout 2 on my computer, a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop from November, 2007, it runs for about five seconds, then immediately I get this error message:
"This message is to inform you that a video resolution lower
than 1280 x 800 was requested. Resolution changes can be requested
by the user, an application (i.e. a game), or the operating system.
Resolution settings lower than 1280 x 800 could result in a "fuzzy"
looking display. The LCD panel of your computer appears best at
resolution setting 1280 x 800.
Close in 15 seconds"
Then there's this little check-box down at the bottom that says "Don't display this message again".
By the way, I do NOT have this hooked up to any sort of external display, so we can rule that out.
But immediately when this comes up it goes out of the game and to my desktop, or next application, and doesn't appear anymore. So I can't check the box or close the warning. Every time that I run Fallout or Fallout 2 it does this, and I get about five seconds til it happens, and only about a second or a half second to even see it.
This was also doing it with Diablo II, but for some reason or another it (mostly) stopped.
I have also noticed that, in these three games, translucent or dark/black colors become "psychedelic". I recently wiped and re-installed Windows XP on my laptop, but I installed all drivers except for "Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus", but that's for audio, and I have audio working. I am not missing any other drivers. Is there any way to at least get the message from appearing? And any help solving the psychedelic coloring problem would be great, because it makes the games very hard to play.
Thanks
Oh, and here are some images of my problems. For some reason the background appears black, but you can see the coloring problems and the warning message:
