Hey everyone. I haven't been here for a while, but I've got a little problem that I can't seem to solve with a little Googling, so I thought I'd return for a bit.
Anyway, here's the deal: I purchased this Blu-ray drive from Newegg (Link) and I'm having some trouble with it. It came with no cable or software (I don't know how they would give me external drivers anyway since you first need a drive to run the CD...) so I just plugged in the power and my own SATA cable and expected it to run -- nothing huge. Well, it turns out that when I press the button on the drive when in Windows, nothing happens; Windows doesn't detect it, and not even a light flashes. The drive will, however, open before Windows starts, perhaps in the BIOS menu or something similar. If I keep the drive open and then close it after Windows starts, then it works fine and is recognized. But my problem is that this is every time I turn on my computer, and it's a bit tedious to open my drive every time it starts up and then close it when I'm logging on.
I'm thinking that there's something that's keeping it from automatically being recognized and that it's only detected when I manually close it (and it starts trying to read a disc, sending information to the computer). But I don't know any sort of way to fix this because I've never run into a problem like this. Any suggestions?
