Best card for $250-$300

Also... the 6600GT has a higher clock frequency than the 7800GT, but the 7800GT will smoke a 6600GT in anything.

well.. you may think this is because of a different card architecture?
or a better memory controller? its not only pipelines and clock speeds you know.. ;)

ya, it turns out its like $320 with a $30 mail in rebate, which doesn't do alot of good since shipping isn't good with it.....so i'm going with my $200 GTO2 and unlocking/ocing it to an X850XT PE

Aren't more pipelines part of a better card architecture? ;)

not neccesairely. the fx5200 and the Geforce 6200 are both cards with 4 pipelines. but still the 6200 outperforms the 5200 by miles. ( its has the performance about a 5700, wich also has 4 pipelines. and also that card is faster as the 5200.)

6800gt will be better than x850 for future games, and if u want to get a better card go with 6800ultra or 7800gt.

6800GT or the 7800.. because the 6800GT can easely be OC'd to ultra on its stock cooling :)

The 6800 Ultra is just an overclocked 6800GT, and the price difference is rediculous. As far as future games, yes I believe the nVidia cards are better prepared. Games nowadays seem to be "specially built" for nVidia, and ATI has had problems with driver support for new games. Also, the nVidia cards come with Pixel Shader 3, while ATI is still on 2.

um, if somebody can explain how to flash the bios on the X800GTO2 so it will have 16 pipelines, i am going with that
