BIOS update - stupid ??

How do you do a BIOS update if you have no floppy drive?

Have never done one before...can you make a bootable CD and put all the files on that instead of a floppy?

Any "hidden" problems I need to look out for when I do this?

Thanks

Biostar P4M80-M4

It has a more than one file for BIOS updates on their webpage...don't know how to tell if they are the windows ones you're referring to

Looks like 2 different bios released at the same time for to different problems, each one has the biostar logo and the other doesnt.

System froze up twice trying to get back on here...reseated the memory & the video card...if it keeps doing this I'm just going to buy another HD, put my 130gb of music on it and buy a new motherboard and start from scratch.

Any idea what could cause the system to just hang up whenever it feels like it? Hard drive is still spinning, but the keyboard and mouse don't work so I have to reboot (and when I do the cpu temp is usually around 42c...so I don't think it's anywhere near too hot).

This has been going off and on for quit some time...of course when I took it to the shop they had it for 2 days and couldn't find anything wrong.

I have:
Biostar P4M80-M4 mobo
Gskill ram (D400 F1-3200USU1-1GBHS)(2x1gb)
Visiontek Radeon X1300 video card
P4 3.0 800mhz fsb cpu
(2) Benq DVD drives
Dell 2407wfp monitor
Western Digital WDC-WD2500Jb hard drive

Anyone know of any conflicts with any of this stuff?

How about a nice socket 478 mobo to replace this one?

Thanks in advance

Did the video card yesterday and the chipset today as a matter of fact.

Sometimes it will even lock up before it completes the first bootup of the day (not very often though). Nothing should get too hot that fast, right? (my CPU is at 34c right now and it's been back up running for 25 minutes or so)

Most of the time a freeze up is a Video card or memory problem, can you tell what temp your video cards GPU is running at?

used the first one and I can't find any temp on the video card...have temps for just about everything else

Current Temperature within your ATi Catalyst Control Center is what you are looking for, located within the ATi Overdrive section. If you use the Catalyst Control Center drivers, that is.

What view mode do you have the center set to? I'm guessing basic if you can't see the ATi Overdrive section. Change it to Advanced view.

it is on advanced...here's what the information center screen shows:

Your looking at the Graphics Software summary :). If you look in the list on the left to that information you will see, or you should see, the ATi Overdrive at the very bottom of the list. Click on that. It's located below 'VPU Recover'.
