Hello everyone, I'm new here as you can see, and I was wondering if you would be able to help me. I'm building a computer and was wondering what combinations of hardware would be the best. This all started when I was unable to play City of Villians because my computer was outdated, and now I'm confused of all the different motherboards, video cards, and ram. Please help. Dan

this belongs in the desktop computer section. it will get moved.

but while ur at it, wats ur budget?

Budget

my budget isn't much, but I plan on buying piece by piece, like motherboard one week processor next.

As far as games any really I'm into just about everything, but i want a set up that will take me farther than just one or two games, i'm looking towards the future not just for one game.

"My budget isn't much" can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. To be able to play future games probably look at no less than 550ish. How's that for a price?

That sounds good I was thinking that it would cost more than that really, but I mean if i can get a good computer for that it would be awesome!!

well i'm sure that i will spend more than that i'm not lookin to get it up and running in the next week. I would like a computer that will not only do well for gaming, but also for designing games and programming, i'm lookin for something to get me through the years i'm currently in Digital Entertainment and Game Designing at the ITT tech near me, so i would like something for school work and designing my own games later.

What video card do you recomend?

You're confused. The motherboard and processor are different. Read the 101's in each section or look each one up on wikipedia. Asus motherboards are good stuff though.

ok so asus and amd are the same company, but wich one is higher end brands, is the asus the lexus compared to the amd or is it the other way around

You are comparing two things that cannot be compared. ASUS makes motherboards, not processors. AMD, a different company, makes processors, not motherboards.

This is an Asus motherboard:

This is an AMD procesor:

This is how they connect, the processor is circled:
