C2D E6300 stock heatsink

If the cover is that much noticeable then I would have to say that there was no cover on my heatsink.

There should of been, a plastic cover over the bottom? Was there not, Was there paste on it?

We didn't even took a look at the base of heatsink wether there is anything or not.As this was my first time assembling a comp and my fren did assemled before but never with C2D.

And another thing, should I enable the warnings of temp for CPU and fan in the bios? They are disable by default.

Yes that would be a good idea, especially when you are testing atm

On mine there was a plastic cover over the thermal compound if that's what you mean, I just took it off though./
thats what i was on about guys lol.

the cover you remove off the thermal compound before you install the heatsink.
Yah but is it even possible to to mount the heatsink with that thing on it? I mean I could see accidently leaving it on if it was one of those stickers you get on the bottom of aftermarket heatsinks but if the cover looks the way I think it does there's no way you could leave it on.

Unless your temps are unusually high or you are going to overclock it I wouldn't be too worried about it.

that's right I wouldn't have worried too much but my Idle temp is 43*C at bios and other softwares like PC Wizard,H monitor and Easy tunes 5 shows 37*C.For me 37*C is alright as temp is very hot nowadays, but 43*C(shown by bios) with new C2D its quite high for idle temp which worries me a lot.

It could just be your CPU isn't quite idle in the BIOS, even 43 isn't too bad. What does it hit under load?

Under load while ripping a DVD easy tunes 5 showed 48*C but didn't measured in bios.

And another thing one day I ran my PC for around half an hour and turned off and touched heatsink over the CPU it was just warm.Does this mean that there is no heat transfer between them?
