Well... Im not very great at building computers. Can someone build be a computer that can play recent games such as FarCry or the upcomming FarCry2? Maybe CS:S, Runescape HD, Cod4, stuff like that. I NEED THE OS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE(I like Vista more then XP) It can be AMD or Intel (AMD Prefered), but at least 2.4GHz.

It can be from any site as long as it is not a scam, and accepts USD. (Although i prefer tigerdirect or newegg =P)

Thanks everyone!, Mezna

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS BUT I DECIDED JUST TO BUY A REALLY EXSPENCIVE COMPUTER AND PAY IT IN INSTALLMENTS sorry for the caps =P just wanted to let you guys know

that comes to $745 not including rebates that may never happen (only a couple of them). however, as an alternative...

i will let you know i'm trying to sell my radeon 3850, which plays far cry on the highest settings and cod4 on high settings with no problems at all. i am a reputable guy here and am looking to purchase the newer 4870. i think $80 shipped is a good price on the 3850. Let me know if you are interested.

also i have 1gb of pc2-5400 pny ram that was never, ever used because i got a better deal on 2gb together. i would send you both of those, with shipping included, for $100 total. many systems do 2gb ram minimum these days, but for $20 maybe 1gb would suffice for you for now. again, let me know. there you could save another $100+ because the radeon 4850 and the ram are about $225 together unless the rebate works, then they are about $200 together.

while the 3870 is a good card, for $125 you are better off EITHER spending another $50 to get the 4850 which is much better, or you are better off spending $50 less and taking my 3850 since the 3870 isn't significantly better than the 3870.

also i forgot to mention, while my 3850 is used, it hasn't seen any overclocking nor do i play games incredibly often, so it hasn't seen a lot of extreme use by any means either. i bought it in january 08.

also it looks like nearly everything ramodkk and i listed are the exact same or very similar, with the exception of the psu. i would NOT buy a rosewill power supply if my life depended on it. go with a better brand...

Hehe :P

But yeah newguy is right. To OP, you'd be better off by saving a bit more money and jumping up to the HD4850 which is said to be currently the best card for the price ;)

oops, i meant the 3850 isn't significantly better than the 3870.

i said it wrong again. damnit i quit. (the 3870 is not significantly better than the 3850, how's that?). freakin' IDIOT! ;)

Really you can't do a good gaming build for $550 and have an OS included, just no way you can do it.

i never said i wanted a high-end gaming system =P Im not one of those gamers that HAVE to play all their games maxed out, im fine with medium or even low

right now you can get a 4850 and ASUS MOBO combo for 300 before rebates. 550 is gonna be really hard if it's including the OS

You can, not gonna be the best though...

Oh no, the above build is not high-end, it's barely mid/high end. If you want a bit cheaper, get something like a 8600GT for video card, that'd drop the price around ~$50 ;)

all this talk about video cards...if you really want to save money on the video card i'm serious buying mine would be wise. obviously i'd like to sell it but a budget build is definitely a great application for this card. it's still a card that will play newer games with very good graphics. yes there are better cards, but you're always going to be behind in the tech world too...

I think you mean without shipping and before rebates because that is the total i got for your built.

Haha very nice Epik, again, excellent build. Don't forget to push the hell out of that E7200! :D You know, as in OC'ing. Kids these days are just crazy, like that one thread about the kid who cut a piece of his PCI-E video card so it would fit PCI slot! :P

^ I agree, ECS are not the best. Wait they are not the worst either. They just aren't anything! :P They don't exist, don't get 'em! :D

I'll give you my advice:
1. better choose Intel than AMD. They are both capable of mostly same things, but there is a feature that Intel processors have and AMD don't: when the Intel processor gets too hot to work (it can happen any time because of dust or poor cooling device) it shuts down the computer. But if same thing happens to an AMD processor, you'll say good bye to your motherboard.
2. better choose xp than Vista. Windows Vista has many processes that are pretty much useless. If you just want the Vista's theme, just get WindowBlinds and find a nice vista theme. If you want a powerfull PC to work many games at a minimum cost, xp would be best, because, if you read the ReadMe sections of the videogames you will see in the "Minimum System Requirements:" section like this:
"RAM Memory: XP - ?"
"Vista - ? x 2" (where ? can be any size of RAM memory)
So Vista requires double amount of RAM memory for the same games.

No offense, but you could take my advice, or just ignore it.

ECS aren't the best, but they aren't the worst also. There's a reason I didn't go as low as Asrock or Jetway

I've owned one ECS motherboard... And I love it! (Socket 423)
