LOL, ok if you want to win the prize for keeping the OS on your computer for the longest period of time, then fine, you win. Most of us don't do that and most of us have no issues with any/all updates. Secondly, arent the service packs essentially all the updates?
LOOOOOOOL that wasn't my point.I am not competing who's OS lasts longer.I was just trying to point out that why should you reinstall entire OS,drivers, all the programs and adjust ALL the options in everything again if you don't have to.The hell with the updates if I will have to reinstall everything again after some time lol.I don't have time for that lol.
As for the SP3,no it does not contain ALL the updates. It contains good amount of fixes which is pretty big,but not even close to ALL lol.Besides you can always remove SP a lot faster and easier for the difference of removing ALL those updates manually one by one if you install all the updates one by one like most people do

If installing ALL possible updates will fix ALL the problems (which by the way mostly do not ALL even occur to you in the first place) then what is the point of that especially if you have to reinstall everything here and there. The hell with that lol.I use my system for many things, but reinstallation of everything is definetely not one of them haha =D!
The thing is I use my system for programming mostly and for many other things and I have so much software installed and configured plus many other things and reinstalling all that would take me WEEKS to finish lol.And I do NOT want to spend my time on doing all this again "here and there" like people usually do lol.
Not to mention that there are rumors that Microsoft is putting some bad stuff in the XP updates just to force people to use Windows 7.That is ONE MORE reason why I never use updates and SP3 is definetely the last pack of updates I will use...ever
Besides I cloned my entire hard disk drive with Linux Ubuntu on the USB external HDD and if something gets screwed up completely,I will just need to lose 2 hours of waiting and not doing a God damn thing until my clone copies back from my USB external HDD back to my internal computer's HDD.

So however you look at it,I am 100% secured

I am too careful sometimes I admit
The ONLY reason that could be for me to reinstall everything again is if I ever decide to use newer Windows operating system such as Windows 7.But I am going to use XP for the next many years anyway so I don't have to think about that. But even then I would find a way to UPGRADE my existing XP to Vista and then upgrade Vista to Windows 7 and again without a need to reinstall anything.

But I doubt I will do that since like I said already I will use XP for the next many years anyway

Unless if I EVER decide to use 64-bit OS then yes...I WILL have to reinstall everything, but I am not going to do that for the next 10 years minimum since ALL the software I have is specifically designed for 32-bit systems only and it is not working on the 64-bit systems at all.
What I am trying to say is: Why would anyone lose his/her time on reinstalling everything if not neccessary?
-If you want security, use a good antivirus software...
-If you want your system to work properly for a very long period of time,do not install bunch of unneccessary updates which you don't need...
-always have entire HDD cloned on a separate external HDD so that you do not have to ever reinstall anything again...
Cheers!
