Can you download windows discs?

Hi - I'm in the position of needing to re-install windows XP on my PC, but I've lost the acursed disc. Someone told me you can download them from microsofts site somewhere... Is this true?
 
I'm sure if you could, they'd be easy to find on their site. But, even so, it wouldn't be free, that's for sure!

Now, I think sometimes they have beta's up for download...
 
no, you can't download windows from the ms website as far as i know, apart form an xp x64 trial, but try ringing them up, they will probably ship a new disc out to you providing you pay the shipping costs

Well... I doubt that because they will probably want the serial key that was used before to verify that the call isn't fraud, and so if he doesn't know that, I doubt they would ship it in... Of course unless you know your key...
 
You won't be able to find a copy of windows to download legally online. If you know your key then if you know anyone that has the install then use their install with your key and you should be good.

but microsofts os are all cosly and nowone will legally allow you to download the os, because mr gates will shut em down 2.

try using linux there free.
 
This is not a question as to where to get copies of programs illegally, but rather how to obtain a copy of a program that has already been purchased. This is not really a piracy issue, but lack of organization... :P

What version is it? I have pro and I would be happy to send a copy for you.
 
i thought in there priracy statment they stated, (not in real words)

it is illegal to copy or copy distrubution. or summing like that. but i cant complain i put an illegal os on ovwer 30 computers, and microsoft didn't say ****, just shows there loosing there touch

Why is it that you need to reinstall Windows?

Perhaps theres a way around it?
 
why not just use a copied WinXP Home Disk and then change the windows CD Key this a "windows serial key changer crack" why by it when it's free?!
