yo yo... wussup. i wanna do some case modding and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas? im gonna borrow my grandpas dremel....
anyways: OPEN DISCUSSION ON CASE MODDING!

i love using the dremel. its the best thing since sliced bread. remember you only get one shot, unless you have reserve cases layin around, so make it count.

Yeah

My suggestion would be for you to plan as much as possible, come out with many possible varitions of your design and so on. After chosing a design or so, I would think about the possible problems that could occur. Believe me when I say that there could be many problems that you could face. In my case for example it was the fact that the window I wanted to install on the side of my case would not allow for the side panel to attach in my original design! Always think about stuff like that in great detail. I would suggest a side window or more fan mods which tend to look good in most cases when done right. Perhaps a nice paint job....whatever rocks your boat.

you can do anything with fiberglass, they have smooth soft clay like kind and the sheets, it'll allow you to shape any way you want, you can use cardboard cutouts as a base and apply it to that. you'll need a good sander too and afterwards you'll have a solid yet thin case.

i made one that resembled playstation 2 case except bigger to accomadate the pc guts out of fiberglass.

if you suck at paint jobs like me then heres an inside tip on getting a glassy pro look to your paint job
you'll need acrylic enamal...clear of course and some of that liquid color dye that you can buy anywhere for a couple bucks.

when you spray a thick layer of enamal on anything and let it dry, buff it up nice, you can dip it in the color dye solution in a large bowl, you then need to microwave it and the dye will absorb into the enamal and give you a cool looking mirror finish, i do this with models mainly but works on anything really.
if the peices are too large, you may beable to boil the dye in a big pot or something but never tried it, either way i think you just need to heat the dye up real good for it to absorb, you will likely have to do it several times if you want a deep color.

fiberglass is pretty light, thats why racing cars use it, but what are you comparing it to? i dunno if its lighter than aluminum of the same size but cant be by much

Im not sure if this would be classified as case modding, but one of my old cases i rigged up a switch that would turn on extra case fans. Also i rigged up a 8-switch switch on the top of my case so that i could control all my fans. I also set up 8 Leds and set it up as a circuit so i new which fans where on even if there was a short:)

Embed a LCD screen into one side of the case, have a window on the other :) thats a challenge: balance actually becomes an issue

Put a weight at the bnottom of the window side of the case.

Personally, i favour the UV look. If done right, it can look amazing
Yeah it can look awesome if done right.

I like the neon look also with just a basic window in the side or maybe an window in the shape of something.
