you can do anything with fiberglass, they have smooth soft clay like kind and the sheets, it'll allow you to shape any way you want, you can use cardboard cutouts as a base and apply it to that. you'll need a good sander too and afterwards you'll have a solid yet thin case.
i made one that resembled playstation 2 case except bigger to accomadate the pc guts out of fiberglass.
if you suck at paint jobs like me then heres an inside tip on getting a glassy pro look to your paint job
you'll need acrylic enamal...clear of course and some of that liquid color dye that you can buy anywhere for a couple bucks.
when you spray a thick layer of enamal on anything and let it dry, buff it up nice, you can dip it in the color dye solution in a large bowl, you then need to microwave it and the dye will absorb into the enamal and give you a cool looking mirror finish, i do this with models mainly but works on anything really.
if the peices are too large, you may beable to boil the dye in a big pot or something but never tried it, either way i think you just need to heat the dye up real good for it to absorb, you will likely have to do it several times if you want a deep color.
