Edit: Build Check Requested - Cheaper (than most) semi-gaming PC Build Help Required
Hey everyone, this is my first post here, as you may notice from the post count. Anyways, I'm in the market for a new PC.
Here's what I've got, mostly:
An old dell from 10 years ago in college, it's a PIII-866MHz, 768mb ram, and I think a 32 meg nVidea gfx card. Bottom line: It's Slow, really slow.
So I need a new one for some gaming / some graphics work (photoshop / CAD software), nothing too fancy, as I'll go into shock if i use a superPC.
I've been browsing around and reading the 101 sticky's and I'm still lost. Off of dell.com I can get what i want, seemingly, for $1200-1400, but I'm sure I can put a better one for less together.
Looking for around $1k, with everything. 19" monitor, 160gig HD is okay, 1 gig ram, and I was thinking dual core AMD, but no real reason why, other than keeping cost down. I won't be overclocking or modding, and boring cases are a-ok with me.
If you've got any ideas, zing em on in. I was checking out the $700 system in the computers 101 area, but I think that post was from february?
Thanks for any help,
SlowMo
