The one thing that will do far more for seeing lower temps overall however is not the make and model cpu cooler but the amount of air flow going through out the case itself. When first swapping boards in the old case the 939 here was seeing 46-48C idle despite the Zalman. That was higher then the cpu at the time which saw about 44C. Once the new case came along with a 140mm front instake and 120mm rear exhaust over the old case's two 80s rear and top plus two more 120s on the side cover the board dropped to 31C with the 3500+ since seeing 33C idle, 35-36 after gaming, and maxed out loads touching 40C while usually seeing 38C as the high.
