if i do not have a raid card in my mobo or in a slot is it possibly to even combine 2 or will i just always have 2 sperate hard drives?

you will have two seperate hard drives forever. you can buy a raid card and put it in a pci slot, and plug the hard drives into it though.
make sure the hard drives are exactly the same.

raid 0 isn't as awesome as it sounds, it makes your system more vulnerable to data loss etc. the speed benifits are marginal also. although i am using raid 0 this is because i was experimenting with it a while ago and i cant be bothered to revert to separate drives.

Is it possible to just put hard drives together so that you can transport some data on one of the HD's onto the other HD? Such as lets say I want to transport my word documents onto another computer, what would I do for that.

The best way to transfer files from one computer to another automatically (over a network) is with vb scripts, or robocopy, which is free from Microsoft. Setup a robocopy batch file and run it in the task scheduler.

Google robocopy and you will find a ton of information.
