Come one people help me please, I need a new computer!

People that build their own computers generally have an interest in the technology. You do save money, but that isn't what motivates us. That's not what motivated me, at least. Continue to research, and if you find yourself developing an interest in the building-side of computers, then I'd say build your own. If don't have an interest, then there's nothing wrong with purchasing a custom made machine, even if it's more expensive.

g25racer means that with the pricetag on those comps are pretty high than if you build it yourself because they're already pre-built.

Thanks for agreeing with me. They are overpriced but the last one that is listed is the best for gaming. Those 2xHD3870's would kick a$$

the wiring isn't hard, but they give you more wire than you need so when you look in a computer most of the wiring you see is unused, heh.

basically the power supply has big cables that come out of it and you use those to power your stuff by simply plugging them into the different units. you will have a lot of left over cables that will still be in your case, but unused.

the other wiring is plugging in your hard drive and cd drive to your motherboard, and plugging in your case's power button and such to your motherboard.

any mid-tower case will fit the common stuff you need. if you look at the cases forum there is a sticky at the top of it and it has a case guide for a good one to get.

installing the OS is always a bitch IMO because you will always have some hardware that's incompatible with windows xp and so you have to find the drivers for it. or maybe there is an error setting up your wireless router and so you have to figure out how to get the wireless connection running. there are a million things that can go wrong when installing an OS and i don't know why, but for some reason the less experienced you are at installing your own OS, the worse the problems are.

hardware setup is 100 times easier than software setup on computers, at least in my experiences.
 
Yeah hardware setup is easy just make sure you dont get a static charge b/c you can fry stuff easy that way. Get an anti-static wrist band and your all set. That and touch as little as possible of ram and cpu as finger prints will cause a bad connection.
 
The computers may seem overpriced, but here where I live you have to pay an extra 25% on every product. So basically take away 25% of the prices and you'll have the real value of the computer.

NewGuy - The wires come out of the power supply, but how am I going to know where to stick the wires, and which to stick on what?

Speaking of interest, I would love to build my own machine and have always wanted too but never ever thought of actually doing it. I mean you guys are talking to someone who doesent even know what Ram, harddrive or such is!

Look man, Give us at least you budget or the amount of money you can spend on your machine & also a few hints of what's your daily casual work on the computer
So we can predict the parts that you may never need to have.. & also the ones that will your satisfaction ...

^ Can someone open that link? If so can you chose the best combination for the best possible gaming computer with my budget in hand? I'll spare the apollo case, instead I'll get the the 3R System R240, that way I will spare some money that I can use elsewhere. The valuta on the right side is in danish kroners, but just make sure that your combination wont cost more than those 8000.

I use the computer for surfing, movies, and games such as counter strike source and call of duty 4. I'm the type of guy that lets the computer be shut down for just a few hours a day, so a good cooler would probably be a good thing?
 
What's the diffrence between a cpu cooler and a case cooler? Isnt a cooler just a cooler!?

What's the difference between, 80mm Arctic Cooling AF7025 19dB and 80mm Arctic Cooling AF8025 PwM 12dB-21dB? Just 6 dollars between them, but is the second one worth spending that extra cash on?

Also, is a CPU cooler an important thing? There's an intel standard cooler, and then there is an Alpine 7 S-775, 41 dollars between them.

A CPU cooler is specific to your proccesor.

The CPU cooler is included with most intel processors (Not a refurb not a open box ETC) and it is plenty good unless you put a large OC on the thing, at which point it would become a bit overwhelming for the stock cooling. You can get the upgraded cooler, but it is not worth it for your purposes, C2D has a pretty safe idle and load temp range.

With a gaming computer what would you try to upgrade as much as possible?

rofl. i don't know jack about cooling. i'm on stock cooling and temps are fine for me. :)

a cpu cooler, well cools the cpu/processor. a case cooler i guess, cools the entire insides of the case. maybe someone who knows about cooling will enlighten you on the subject matter. :)
