Computer acting very strange :/

Hi fellas, I was wondering whether one of you guys would be able to help me out with some advice since my comp is acting rather strange.

I've had my pc for around a year and a half and never had any problems with it. A week ago i shut it down normally and when i switched it back on, the fans would spin really fast and nothing else would happen, it would just stay like that until i switched it off manually either via the plug or power button.

I took it to the shop, thinking they were the experts and all, and they said it was just simply dust that found its way between the CPU and motherboard and the two werent able to make proper contact, hence it wouldnt switch on. So they cleaned it for me and it worked normally from then till now...

Today, whilst watching a video on youtube, my mouse just froze so i decided to restart my pc... unfortunately upon restarting it the same problem happened again, the fans would spin really fast and loud and my computer wont switch on. The weirdest thing is this: I took the cpu out checking for dust again but there was none, plugged it back in and it worked fine. I shut it down again, and the same problem, it wont switch on. Took out the cpu again, plugged it back in etc...

So now my pc wont switch on after i shut it down unless i take the cpu out and plug it back in lol...
Any thoughts? Your help would be greatly appreciated (PS sorry for the long text)

1. Try resetting the cmos by removing power from power supply, remove cmos battery, press the power button on the case a few times to discharge power and then wait 5 minutes. Then reconnect power and reinsert battery and see if it boots up.

2. If option 1 doesn't work then you may need to update the bios.

thanks i'll try it out :)
I was under the impression that it was a hardware problem...
A friend of mine who's studying IT told me it might be my motherboard failing. Is he just talking shit? :P

Whenever a computer has issues booting up, the first thing I do is reset the cmos and go from there.

for your friend's comment, reseting the cmos clears and restarts the motherboard basically, so that would mean that something in the mobo was messing up, so technically he was correct in a way, so obviously he's learning something :good: well at least so far he's correct, might not be the actuall prob in the end.

Resetting cmos the way u described seems to have worked :) thanks alot!
Strangely though, even though my computer now switches on and off fine, my games seem to lag a bit, that is, they're not running as well as they used to.
I also noticed that before this my computers fans used to spin a lot faster when running games, now they're spinning a lot slower.
Any thoughts? A friend and I bought the parts and put the computer together from scratch, as far as i know we never tinkered with the bios or overclocked it or anything...
