Computer shut down problems

Hello,
I just upgraded my computer, and ofcourse as always happens when I upgrade, there's a problem.When i have both sticks of ram im mycomputer, it loads up through the windows loader before you pick your name. Then it shuts down and restarts. I was interested in what it was doing so I let it shut down and restart itslef twice more before I just shut it down myself. So I took one of the sticks of ram out and it boots all the way up. But, it randomly shuts down on me. My computer also won't let me use mozilla firefox and when i'm using internet explorer, it closes that often when i'm using it. I have no clue what's up, so any help would be awesome.

Thankyou

OK
I did what that guy said to do in the other forum.

The errors i'm getting are mostly application errors with a loadperf error and a msiinstaller error.
How would i go about fixing them?

It sounds like a RAM problem or a virus. A virus or malware is the most likely cause.

If you have XP, do a scan with Ewido, Windows Defender, Avast! and Panda ActiveScan. You can also post a HijackThis! log here for analysis.

The way to test this is to run the computer in Safe Mode with networking. If it runs fine, then you know that my software hunch is correct. If it doesn't, it's probably RAM.

I actually don't think he knows. He was just spamming his forum. He already spammed his website on these boards and has spammed it on numerous other boards and MSN groups. I did a search on him and tracked him down. He has been on numerous boards asking how he can drive his traffic up and improve his search engine results. He's quite proud of the fact that he makes 100 pounds a week off that site.

A LoadPerf error is an installer error. That means an object wasn't found in the installer package.

You should reboot into Safe Mode and see if my suggestions worked. It will help us narrow down the problem.

I don't see how it can be a virus because i've noy used the internet except for like once. Which the internet really doesnt want to work. But I will try your suggestion for safe mode now and see what happens.

If this helps at all, I got these new when I upgraded:
core 2 duo e6300
crucial 2 512 mb for ram
radeon X1900XT
and for mobo a gigabyte ga-965p-ds3 i think thats it

i'm thinking its a ram problem but i also think it might be mobo

That mobo is supposed to be an awesome board. I dunno. I guess anything is possible.

Crucial is decent. That's made by Micron. It's nothing special, but it sure is better than some.

Nice VGA on you. :P

Let me know what happens in safe mode.

reply for sirkenon

Hi there
This is the reply for sirkenon
I’m not the editor of this particular web site. However I was planning to buy a dell laptop.
I bought my laptop by clicking shop link of jamyam.com, just before that I made a phone call to their number 0870 345 9983 and I told them about your post too. As www.jamyam,.com promised, in 5Mn I received the cash back they promised on my paypal account and the invoice of dell laptop. I can post a copy of the invoice.
I don’t know why are going around and posting the message against them?
I think that the propaganda you are carrying out against a corporate business by writing “teens”, “6th grade” etc .. is quit dangerous for you.
You must be their competitor or living in a country where the legislation is not organised.
After your message I went through their forum I found the messages.
Give them a call if you could, it must be expensive from a 3rd world to stop the legal process against you!! This is the number 0870 345 9983.
by the way the company jamyam.com is part of saras real estate group !

Before I run it in safe I just wanted to tell ya that when its loading, it goes into a screen and just sais:

Invalid Boot .INI file
Booting from C/windows

with somemore dashes and colons on the c windows that i didnt write

reply for the error

again right click on my computer and
go manage service
if you have messenger service running just right click on it and stop it.
stop both windows messenger as well as messenger service. i dont think the problem is not due to your ram change.

from boot.ini

This is a sample of a default Boot.ini file from a Windows XP Professional computer.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
This is a sample of the above Boot.ini file with a previous installation of Windows 2000 on a separate partition.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

have you ever updated your system from windowns 2000??

I have windows xp pro

i tried it in safe mode acts the same way as regular mode

and just another thing:
whenever i try to ctrl alt del something once i hit end now i shut down and restart

Pct

reinstall the windows xp pro..
if you have a files to save downlad the free version of the alteris’s pc transplantation, and using 98 or 95 boot disk, back up the files. Reboot the computer again using 98 boot disk and do fdisk /mbr to clear the master boot sector. There is a ntfs version of it but 98-FAT is better than that.
http://www.altiris.com/ where you can download the trial version.

fdisk

just try fdisk /mbr (FAT) to clear the master boot and try to restart again....
it could be the sasser virus problem too, sasser execute shutdown.exe .. get through console and disable shutdown.exe and reboot again, install sp2 of xp and re-enable shutdown.exe
for this your have use ntfs boot disk.
you can also use lilo boot to mont the system
