Computer Vs. Console

I have been going back and forth whether or not to build a computer or just buy a new game console (xbox360 PS3 or both). I could buy both for the price of building a computer. I have not played any games on a computer for some time only on consoles lately. Are computer games on computer better than on consoles??? What would you do, Build a computer or buy a console??

I like computer gaming by far. Its a bit more expensive, and you have to stay on top of it as abosed to upgrading every 3 years, but I still like it alot better. Plus console controllers suck. And computers will always have better graphics. All the best games also come out either on PC or PC only. Plus console controllers suck. If you've got cash, build, if you dont, get a console. Plus console controllers suck ;)

my preference is to have both. both the pc and the console have exclusive titles. also, i find that pcs are better for stuff like FPS and strategy games while i prefer racing games on consoles as well as platform and action games.

This of course is opinion but I think there are many console titles that are very good that never come out on PC. I don't play console games but did at one point in my life. I think also that console controllers can be decent. I especially like the playstation controller. I bought the Logitech Rumblepad2 because it looks and feels almost identical to the playstations controller. Here is a link http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2225,CONTENTID=8674 I highly recommend this controller for its plug and play ability... It just plain works with many games with little to no effort at all.

How does the D-pad feel on that Logitech controller? It looks like it's cheap and wouldnt work well for precision. Other than that it looks really cool...just might pick up one myself:)

It actually feels good. I don't use it myself but rather I always use the analog sticks. But yea I guess it do look a bit cheap if you compare it to the looks of the PS2's controller which looks nicer with 4 buttons. although I honestly think this would be better for precision, well easier as you actually have a button you can press on a diagonal rather then try and press 2 buttons on the PS2. You know what I mean?

Edit:

Also I have been using this for about a week now and love it for plug and play ability. All games I have played with it so far have worked right away by simply selecting the controller function in the games menu and using the mapped controller buttons pre-selected. The controller does come with an app so you can customize your games control settings etc. but I've not yet needed to use it. Games I've played with it so far have been Legacy of Kain Blood Omen2, NFS Underground, NFS Most wanted demo, GTA San Andreas and Heroes of the Pacific. All games worked right away by simply selecting the gamepad option in game but Heroes of the pacific I needed to set up in game menu but could have done so also with the Logitech Profiler. Also GTA San Andreas could make better use with a controller with more buttons rather then this one but still I find it very enjoyable with this controller.

Cool. I'll keep an eye out for it in stores. I've always wanted a controller for my PC, but I've always hated the ones I've seen for it. I always liked the console designed ones. I even tried using my Media Center remote as a wireless controller, LOL! Didnt work too well, since it only registers one button press at a time!

you could always just get a pc and then get a ps3 and xbox360 emulator but you have to watch out for xbox ones because its supposedly really easy to put viruses and things into xbox roms.

The console I would want for xmas is the PS3 but that is not comming out until next year (end of winter). Anyway, the games for xbox are usually for PC as well, but playstation 3 is sometimes a different story. So I will get a
PS3 when the price drops. Also I will wait until all of the problems with the consoles have been fixed as well.

No question go for the PC. Keep this in mind: PC's get better with age, consoles dont ;)

No console will ever surpass what a PC can do.

your probably asking in the wrong place, remember this is www.computerfourm.com. Anyways for you i would suggest getting a console to do gaming, to get the quality or better quality then xbox 360 or ps3 you would have to dish out about 4-6 times more money into a computer, it would be worth it but not for the sole purpose of playing games. I have a good computer that can play exclusive PC games but i rather have a console to do my main gaming. Just my opinion but i hope it helps.

for pc, you can get some pretty good games for cheap, whereas most console games will never get below the 20 dollar mark. for example i picked up a copy of battlefield 1942 for $10.:)

Upgardable gfx. cards, processors. YOu cant upgrade the internal components of a console can you?;)
Im pretty sure once you upgrade the cpu you need to upgrade the mobo, in result the cost of a new and better console. Say what you wish i still think consoles are a better alternative for playing games cheaper with very high computer-like quality.

Its not even close. Even the Xbox360 cant match up against a PC with an AMD Dual Core and a 7800GTX.

well if you did your research your would know Xbox360 has (3 Seperate) Power PC Processors 3.2 ghz EACH, also having a 500mhz custom video card which utilizes 48 parallel shader pipelines in the GPU. Now i believe the 7800GTX is better but im sure 3 sperate CPU's at 3,2ghx is better then a single AMD Dual Core CPU. Not to mention xbox 360 doesnt have a sofisticated operating system to lag down its games.
