Now that that is out of the way, here is my problem. Please, read the ENTIRE THING before you even START typing a response!

Due to situations beyond our control, my girlfriend and I have been forced into a long-distance relationship. I bought her a netbook on eBay so she would not have to rent a computer.

However, the netbook has an operating system on it called Windows CE 6.0. She cannot connect to a hotspot because the OS is so weird, and I can't figure it out, either. I might could figure it out if I could access her computer using Windows Remote Access, but she needs to be connected to the Internet for me to do that. It's a Catch-22.

I tried googling "How to connect to a hotspot with Windows CE." I get nothing. All I get is information about connecting to a hotspot with XP, Vista, or 7. Occasionally, I can find information about Windows 2000.

So, what do I do? I go to other message boards and ask them about it. What do they do? They think she has some kind of a PDA.

NO! She has a NETBOOK!
She has a NETBOOK!

A F***ING NETBOOK!

nnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttbbbbbboooooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkk!

What part of "netbook" don't you understand?!

It's not a PDA; it's not a desktop; it's not a hamburger! It's a NETBOOK!

Why is it so damned difficult to connect to a blasted hotspot? Simply connecting to the Internet is not supposed to be this damned difficult!

Can someone PLEASE give me some step-by-step instructions on how to connect to a hotspot using Windows CE?

Oh, and when I say "hotspot," I mean Starbucks, McDonalds, the airport, the library. A wifi hotspot. The kind that you can play online with your Nintendo DS on.

If it helps, here is the exact eBay listing from which I bought this netbook.

check for wireless option, i hv not checked netbook. but operated windows ce on my mobile and also check wireless button/switch on ur netbook (may be on keyboard or side)

check for wireless option
I'll keep that in mind. I will need 24 hours to test that, since I can only see my girlfriend once a day due to her having to rent a computer by the hour.

EDIT: By the way: What would the switch look like?

Remember, I don't have the netbook with me, right now.

Also, whether she needs to turn the wifi on, or whether she already has it on, what steps does she need to take, further, to actually connect to the hotspot?

Isn't it the same as doing it in XP, vista or 7? There isn't a network icon in the taskbar? Have you tried control panel > networking?

also, if it's someone elses wireless network you will need to ask permission to use it and have the password if needed.

I don't know. IS it the same?

You should ask that to my girlfriend. Remember, SHE's the one with the netbook.

It's a restaurant with a hotspot in it! Of course she has permission! She just has to buy a small drink and she can stay there until the battery runs out!
