cooling tips?

ok, im running slightly hot, i have read a few threads on here about peoples temps and they are much lower than mine :(

how can i make it colder, allready got 4 8cm case fans, HT-101 cpu cooler, but still my cpu seems to run hot for what it is, not even OC'd

tips...

i would like to kno too. on one thread someone with the same precessor was idling on 27C that had OCed to 2.5...and i, on the other hand, am idling on 37C stock. then theirs preator, he has his x2 4200 ideling on 25C stock and saying that he can onnly get to 38C if its under load and he turns off the CPU fan..wtf?
and the tip he gave me was get fans with high CFM. well thats wat i did alright.
got 1 120mm at 77cfm(intake/front). and another 120mm fan at 84cfm at 2k rpm but i sometimes have it at 114cfm at 2400rpm(back/exhuast)..and still cant get lower than 34C..it just fluctuates from 34-37C....
the two i mention both are using stock fans like me.....

btw how do i control my CPU fan speed? its at 1100rpm and i think if i get it too 2000rpm i can get those low temps..

im sitting here, four windows open, msn, bittorrent and internet and my temp is 47 at the moment, help me out, this cant be right!!

but it can... With my sempron 2300+ with stock heatsink i was running 45C idle, and 60C full load. I replaced the heatsink with a heatpipe heatsink. Check out newegg or soemthing for a better Heatsink. I would aslo suggest replacing the thermal compound. Other then that try and weed out your cables in your case and tuck away cables that you arent using in a place that it wont ubstruct airflow. I did this and now my case temps are 4C less.

my HT-101 has the heatpipes, its a great cooler, read loads of reviews before i bought it and it claimed to run really low temps, but it just seems to be hotter... does this arctic silver stuff take time to set?

I get nice temp's ussaly just with nice thermal paste, not rap that comes with it.
A NICE heatsink and fan, not stock, for example I have a heastink/fan rated for a AMD x2 4800 running on my sempron 3100(plus just one less thing i'll have to buy on my next upgrade)

I also always have my fan thats on the top of the case blow OUT to take the hot air that rises out, and then I make the bottom fans blow IN.

well b4 i was idling on 40C i pretty much just pushed my cables out of the way into the empty 5.25" bay space which brought my temp down to 38C then i got the 120mm(the one that can go 114cfm) and it idles as i said b4. just fluctuates at 34-37C. but the biggest improvement the fan gave me was it lowerd my HDD temp from 50C to 40C, the temp in my case when from 55-50C to 40C. then my video had no effect on anything i did. it still idles around 53C...

If you dont have one already, You could also get an exhaust fan. There pretty cheap, and cool a lot of dead air around your video card.

?? like a slot fan? that would be useless as it would cancel out the GPU fan.
the GPU fan blows are in. ive thought about getting one of those artic GPU coolers but im just afriad of replacing the fan as i might break something.

well there are only 2 empty slots below my card..and the last 2 is occupied by my soundcard and wireless card.

i thought of making a tube like thing coming from my intake side fan to the card but im not too sure how im going to do that....

I have heard u can use the same tubing you would use for the outake of a dryer(the thing that dries your clothes after you wash them). They are similar size to a regular 80MM fan. I have heard of people doing this before:)

sweet, now i just have to check if there is enough space for 80mm..

come on people, there must be some other ways to maximise the cooling, my 500w psu on the way should cool it slightly...

does the arctic silver paste take time to set before it starts working properly?

thank, sam
