Well, I've had this computer for the longest time. And recently I rebuilt it and got it to run again. Regrettably, anytime I would play any games I would get all kinds of rendering problems and sometimes lockups. I figured the video card was dieing. Tried a new video card, no luck. Next I tried testing the RAM in a number of different tests, all telling me it was okay. I reseated the CPU, no luck. So today, I figured, jsut for shits and giggles, I'd run Prime95 and Speedfan to monitor the temps. Within seconds it was close to 100 degrees Celsius.
Soo, my questions are:
1. Is there a good chance I've damaged my CPU by playing with it running so hot? (I've probably gotten 10-20 hours gameplay on it since it's been put together)
2. Are lockups that common for an overheating CPU? I know an overly hot CPU can cause lockups, but I thought it was typical for a computer to restart when the heat gets that high..
