I've recently noticed poor performance, and I opened up cpuid last night to see what clock speed I was at. I noticed it was at 150x12 or 1.8ghz-ish. I looked in my BIOS and saw that turbo boost was turned off and my multiplier is set to 21, so I should be at 3.15... Well after I reset to defaults and rebooted cpuid now shows the right speeds, however when I am playing Skyrim I still get major slowdowns for no reason and my GPU never goes over 60% with SLI off or 35% with it on so I figured it wasn't that. I opened up cpuid and everytime I've seen it its dropped well below 2ghz and the multiplier is at 9,10,or 12 even though I have it hard set at 21. All I can figure is my cpu keeps bottoming out for some unknown reason and that's what is giving me the issues. I played the game on max settings for the first month without a hiccup. I sent their support an email but I don't think it is on their end anymore. Is my processor crapping out? What would cause this if not? I've been entertaining the thought of upgrading to a 980x back when they came out (and 990x now) but I haven't just because I figured as long as my computer played games like I want there is no reason. I originally went with the 920 because I knew that I would kick my self if I bought the xtreme 4 core and then wanted the 6 core later. If I need to buy a new one it wouldn't be the worst thing I guess is what I'm getting at but again, I don't want to buy a $1000 processor if there is something else going on (obviously).
