Cpu temperatures high need help

Im not sure about floppy or CD, but I think either will be fine. Try updgrading the HSF. Copper core or full aftermarket copper with a high air flow fan.

I don't think there is a new BIOS for the P35C yet, F2 should be the shipped version. Gigabyte has a windows utility to update the BIOS. It doesn't look very good but it works well.

since you just brought it see if you can rma it in, you dont have to but if that happend to me i would since i wouldnt be able to get a significant overclock

What worries me is I downloaded cpuz and the clock speed is 1600 Mhz and the tempearatuer is still high. The BIOS has a thing that limits the cpu frequency when it reaches it thermal threshold and that is what scares me the most maybe I dont have the heatskink on right.

What is the best aftermarket cooler to cool the Core 2 Duo price right now is not a big factor since I want to keep this processor cool.

Intel Thermal Analysis Tool says both cores are between 58-65C on idle I will post back and see what they are under load.

That's too much for idle. Somethings not right, either all the sensors are bugggered (which I find unlikely) or the heatsink is not properly mounted. Take the heatsink off and reattach it, even if the reading is wrong the heatsink should still be at least warm to the touch.

I took off the heatsink and there was thermal paste on the cpu but only a little bit on a small edge of the heatsink so I reapplied and redid the heatsink but same problem guess Ill have to try again.

How many RPMS is it going at?

The most I have ever seen in the bios is it just barely hit 2000 I thought it was supposed to go more than that.

I cant get the heatsink to touch the cpu whenever I take the heatsink off the cpu has barely any thermal paste on it. I looked at the motherboard and by the cpu fan area it is bent would that be a problem trying to get the fan on there.

a thin layer of TP is all you need (rice sized). 2000 isnt alot. I would suggest you either replace the fan or replace the whole HSF. I am notreally understanding the "bent" part. Is a motherboard part bent of the heatsink? Do you mean the northbridge heatsink?

I am thinking of getting a different cpu cooler do you know which one is the best?

The bent part is where the cpu area is the mother board is bent from trying to push the heatsink down onto the processor and now I am thinking that is why i cant get the heatsink to stay on top of the processor.

I get it... Then this might call for a new motherboard :( unless you can somehow repair that.. if you have pics that would help.

Im going to take the motherboard out of its case and lay it on the table and see if i can straighten it out if I cant then I just have to try my best in gettting the heatsink on there.

Do you know what the best cpu cooler there is out there I dont care how expensive it is it just has to be air cooling.

Then you aren't putting enough on. Don't worry if you put a bit too much on, the excess will get pushed out.

I went to a computer store and bought a used cooler master heatsink and fan for $10 I cant find it on newegg so it must not of been made for core 2 duo but it is keeping my processor ideling at 32C sometimes a little warmer and sometimes hotter I know that is still high but my room is a little warm right now.

Thanks for the help everybody.

I'm glad I was wrong. :)

Good to hear it
