Cpu

My computer is the one in my sig. I what should I upgrade if I want it to be a bit faster? RAM or CPU or both?

The guys says on that thread that the CPU had problems. I can buy another stick of DDR2 ram for $20. Is there a cheaper place to get CPUs other than Newegg? I really wasn't looking to spend $70.

Also, Could my PSU handle a 95w CPU?

They are right. 50 bucks pretty much restricts you. Doubling your memory or getting faster memory really isnt going to do that much. I dont know what memory it has, if it was like 2gb. of DDR2 533 and you jumped up to 4gb of DDR2 800. You could tell alittle difference in memory intensive stuff, but over all you could not probably tell the difference. Upgrading the processor to a better Athlon II X3 or X4 is going to run between 80 and 100 bucks. Doing both would help. But that would have the board at its limit and dead end. Should just save more up and do a larger upgrade/build.

One used to be able to at least get a decent hard drive for around $50, but not anymore. Hopefully by December 2012 hard disk drive prices will at least come down to around where they used to be.

Unbelievable, some of them have doubled or more than doubled in price. You used to get a WD 320 gb drive for $42.99 and now they are $102.99. Thats almost 2.5 times the original amount.

Sell our GPU, add the 50 bucks and get a 5770. Significant and immediate gaming improvement.

Or,

Get more RAM, i disagree with some of the above, 2GB of RAM is not enough these days. For the low cost, another 2GB of RAM is definitely worth it. You could probably do both actually.

He cannot just get another 2gb, he only has 2 slots on his board so he has to get a 4gb kit.

BUT, buying 4gb or ddr2 right now is a waste of money. Best thing to do is get an AM3+ board and DDR3 ram. He'll need about $90 to do that though.

I CAN get another 2gb and in fact I have. I now have 2x 2gb DDR2 800mhz.

I do not need a better GPU as I don't play many games and don't play any very new games.
