Crysis 2.5...

So I picked up Crysis 3 when it came out, installed it and installed the latest drivers and made sure all the settings were maxed and once in the game the first thing I notice:

No displacement mapping, at all. Period. Everything is flat. Low resolution textures still plenty.

The displacement mapping was the main selling point of the game and even advertised in the Crysis 3 trailer, pixel accurate displacement mapping.

So hopefully they release a patch with this soon, as I saw some graphical glitches in the first scene as well with the water.

Other than that the game seems great, but I didnt pay $65 to see the same graphics as Crysis 2 which to me felt sub-par.

Im gonna try and find a number for Crytek and tell them that if I dont get what was promised to me in the advertisements then I am demanding my money back.

Just take the game back to your retailer and then call them (Crytek)

I'm sick of them pulling this crap so I simply don't buy their games. I got burnt with too many EA/Crytek games... I loved the original crysis and warhead though.

Unfortunately you had to have expected this the moment they started developing the Crysis series for consoles as well. I can't wait until new consoles are out, we'll finally get more games that actually take a good PC to run.

I dont think you can return PC games...

But its just that they advertised all these cool new features of the engine that was supposed to be in the game, and then it wasnt. They were out straight false advertising the game and thats illegal.

The game doesnt look that good. And Im sure my PC can handle it, I get 50fps average with everything max at 1920x1080 with some dips to 30 with the motion blur. And its using more than 2GB of VRAM which is the most usage Iv seen on my card so far.

Lawsuit!

As a consumer you have rights that cannot be denied. Your rights override a EULA or store policy. If you're in the US, talk to the BBB. If in AU like me then the ACCC would like to hear from you.

I played it and didn't think it looked bad, and in the multiplayer with more jungle-y environments it looks great. And it does look better than 2, i just beat 2 a few days ago and i loved the graphics in it (idk about post-high res textures and DX11).

G80FTW is right, sorry. But only if the game is already open. If the game is still sealed in the box, then it can be returned.

Edit: However, I don't know how DLC works.

I would say 2 looks better, at least it had SOME displacement mapping. Crysis 3 has zero.

wait, is Crysis 3 released properly?
I knew it was in beta, but didn't hear when it was properly launched

Have you even played with the CryEngine3? The graphics are amazing in that. I highly doubt that the graphics are crap.
Also, you don't play a game for the graphics. And you can expect bugs to happen with water.

Rendering Water is extremely difficult, there is no game that has a perfect 3D render of a lake or anything, there is always some glitch in it.

Yes, I have the CryEngine 3 dev kit I know what the engine can do. But Crytek, once again, is not using the power of its engine. Instead, its building its games for console leaving out over half the power of its engine and us PC gamers suffer from what was originally a PC game developer who is now a traitor.

And why not play a game for its graphics? If people didnt play a game for its graphics there would be little need for graphics cards. Graphics are not a top priority in every game, but with a developer like Crytek I along with many others hold high expectations for their graphics because I along with those many others know what the engine can do and we have yet to see them release a game using all the power of that engine. Its just a waste of technology.

And yes, in the USA Crysis 3 was released on the 19th.

And about the water, I have seen alot better rendering than this. Crysis 1 had better water. At least in most games you dont swim 10 feet above the water.

Still I think its retarded if you only play a game for the graphics.

Crytek may have done a stupid thing of the console port thought process but why let only PC gamers have the fun of Crysis? I seriously think its so dumb when people say: omg they should never have made that game for console as well as PC. Go suck it, its a game let people enjoy it. Like this X360 vs PS3 vs PC. Its a game get over it.

I prefer PC gaming because of the precision of the mouse and keyboard. But I enjoy console just as much. Now quit bloody complaining that Crysis 3 has shyt graphics and enjoy the bloody game. Otherwise throw it in the corner and never play it again, like what any normal person does with "crappy" games

I still see no issues with the graphics, compared to many other games if not all other games, this is one of the best looking out. And I'm stuck on medium settings too (for campaign, multiplayer i can get away with high)

I dont think you understand what Im trying to say.

It has nothing to do with PC versus whatever console, or whether or not it has good graphics. It has to do with Crytek LYING to PC gamers.

Im not saying they shouldnt have made it for console, Im saying they should have delivered to PC gamers what they ADVERTISED to us.

Also, I read a review saying that the difference between low settings and max was minimal, though I have not played it on any lower settings myself. So id assume the difference between medium and very high is minimal to the naked eye. As I remember, Crysis 2 had very little difference between low and max, the only thing I noticed was motion blur. So probably similar here.

It is a good looking game no doubt, but not the best. Metro 2033 still holds that to me for it having the highest resolution textures Iv seen along with amazing lighting and particle effects that I have yet seen matched. Though my friend informed me the new Killzone for the new PS4 looks better than anything so Ill have to check that out.

Have you played the later missions or online games in the jungle like areas, those seem to have it.

Have what? I just got past the blowing up the dam part. So Im fairly into the game. Still havent seen any displacement mapping, which was a key feature if you ask me to its graphics. Giving depth to textures is what games have been lacking!

Still, I don't see why you would then whine about the game. Its a good game, graphics are amazing. Nuff said

Why would I not whine about not getting what I paid for? I dont see why no one else sees this as a problem. Is it now acceptable to advertise whatever you want about a game and not deliver it to the paying customer? Amazing is not the word I would use..... average is more like it.
