cutting LED wires on blue LED case fans

I replaced my two 120mm Thermaltake blue LED case fans a while back, maybe a little bit over a month ago I guess. One, they were over 4 years old, two, I think they weren't working as well, and three, an equally sound reason was that I was tired of the blue LED light streaming out the back and side panel. I even unplugged the wire going from the motherboard to the PC power button that lit that up blue when it was pushed :D

So, I thought I could get some use out of these fans without the blue LED's because I still don't want blue light. I was inspecting the fans and I saw four sets of 2 wires going from the circuit board in the center under the Thermaltake sticker to near the four corners of the fan.

I guess it wouldn't matter if I could the two wires near the circuit board or near the LED bulbs.

If you are using photobucket then click on the image and on the right you will see different options. Click on the img link and it will be copied to the clipboard and then go into your reply, right click and click on paste. :)

I'll try that right now =)

It won't matter where you cut them, and you'll only have to cut one wire on each (maybe just one wire total if them are all on the same pathway) to kill the lights.

This. Depends how the circuit was set up.

If something stupid happens like the fan won't spin up anymore (unlikely) you'd have to bridge the circuit before the LED on each light too.

I still haven't tried hooking them, having cut the wires already long before the discussion was open again.

I'll let you know what happens :)
