Hi everyone,
I'm new to the club and I can only thank anyone who has posted threads regarding the piece of crap laptop I purchased about 5 years ago. I own a Dell 5150(P4, 3.06 Mhz with HT, Windows XP) which recently decided to stop working. I've contacted Dell after reading threads about the recall and class action lawsuit (Called the Sundell Case) which benefitted those who were aware of the recall. Unfortunately, no one seems to be accountable regarding notices to past owners.
For those of you who have considered buying Dell I recommend you do not. They're not interested in backing their product, they're not interested in getting someone who enunciates in understandable English, and they're not interested in out of warranty support even though they have a department called such and they certainly aren't concerned about employing people in this country to answer the phones or build their computers. It's all about the cost and when your computer goes to pot, well............tough shit!!
They're offering a repair on my computer for a slim $499.00. If I paid that much I'm not certain any reasonable person out there would buy a used computer of 5 years for that much. I was one of those people who weren't notified about the recall or problems until it was too late.
I'm venting to inform those of you mislead to think Dell gives a crap about your purchase that they don't. So I say don't buy a Dell!! For anyone
with an opinion, a post relating to this computer, I'd like to see it. BTW, anyone interested in buying my laptop if I have them repair it? They'll guarantee their repair for 90 days. WOW, such a offer!! What's holding me back?
