OK, thanks.Simple answer no. However if you require or want top quality sound AND have the speakers / headphones to match, you cannot go past a discrete sound card for higher (than onboard) quality sound. It also used to be the case that sound cards would take a load of the CPU, however this point is rather redundant with newer CPUs.
