Which antivirus is good program to use?
Why does antivirus slows down pc performance? It faster when it's not installed!

People say antivirus corrupts the systems and registry. Like system mechanic. why?

1. Whichever suits your preference: AVAST!, AVG, NORTON, MCAFFEE, PCCILLIN, NOD32 ....

2. It slows down performance especially on older PCs due to the fact that every accessed file is immediately scanned as well.

3. It would basically not corrupt, but rather install many registry keys. However, upon reinstallation, that should be fixed.

I dont know my old pc was not that old it was
amd 3000+ 1.8 ghz
asus av8 deluxe
1 gig dual channel
120 gb ide
350 powersupply
9800pro videocard

Not only it slowed down the performance but it slowed down the connection. And I have cable. And I try reformating my pc and did not install antivirus then it ran fine including the connection speed.

MCAFFEE is good I would not go with norton though It doesn't catch everything as well as mcaffee does.

That antivirus that comes with system mechanic 6 its the strongest antivirus out there. People say that antivirus is better then trend micro, norton06, mcafee06,avg,panda,f-prot you name it. But it will also slow down the performance dramatically unlesss uninstalled.

I play games a lot I dont want to decrease the pc performance while playing the games especially the performance.

How can I avoid from getting a virus, maleware and spyware at the same time keep up with my pc performance without decreasing it a little bit.

But why would you want your pc to slow down? Dont you want to keep the pc to max performance?

i would just say that everyone has there own opinion, and they never seem to change unless you experiment with other programs...my opinion is that i like avg

many to choose from. either you want free or paid.

they slow down because most of them have ontime scanner and scans when you log on, during your using your pc, and upon shutting down. this sometimes determines which is good and which isn't.

what kind of people say that they corrupt the system? if it does, people will stop making them. If any, it helps and protects. Registry, all programs install registry keys, and upon removal, will usually remove it. if not, you will need a whole different tool like aregistry cleaner.

When you reformated you rpaabally got rid of other things on your computer like spyware which was the real reason why it was slowing down. Your antivirus praballyw asn;t slowing it down very much.

I use nortan ainto virus, and whnen idel with no other programs running, I ionly use 90mb of ram and less then 1% cpu usage, I dont think its slowwing down my sysem, and I have a crappy cpu.

avast for me. and I use adaware to scan the spyware.

haha F-Prot is weak! I tested f-prot and got 0 virus. And then i uninstall f-prot and install kaspersky (kav) And found 24 virus including 19 spywares and 2 malewares.

Why didnt f-prot 2006 didnt catch the virus's maleware and spywares?

Most virus scanners are not designed to catch spyware/adware and other things of that branch of malware. I personally use Anti-Vir for anti-virus, highly recommend it compared to any other, and I've tried quite a few. Sorry to hurt some people's feelings, but McAfee is absolutely horrible, Norton is passable, and others are good, but the real-time protection on Anti-Vir is what sets it apart for me. It actually is a corporate-level anti-virus, but if you just use it for home, it's free. As for the spyware/ad-ware issue, a combo of Spybot and Ad-Aware does the trick; what one doesn't pick up, the other invariably does!

How do you compare Anti-Vir against KAV?

It's purely just an Anti-Virus program, but it works awesome. Definitely #1 in my book. I have Spybot and Ad-Aware for the other stuff, the best part is all three are free!
