Dual Core and Dual processors

What is the advantage of a dual core comp, i understand it actualy uses 2 processors side by side which makes the multi tasking easier but dose double the speed of the comp because the 2 cpu's share the tasks?
also hows dual core better than duel processor? and is there any dual core laptops in market now?

1. it doesnt exactly double the speed of the comp. it just improves multitasking as you said, and increases the speed of programs taht can utilize dual cores.

2. dual core and dual processor are the same thing

3. yes they are dual core laptops on the market now. one is made by dell.

No no no NOOO, that couldnt be more wrong, dual core is 1 processor with 2 cores, dual processor is 2 physical chips each with 1 core.

motherboards like this can support 2 physical processors, that dual processor, NOT the same as dual core, which is just one processor.]

well right now dual core with one processor is cheaper. and with a dual core with two processors you need a motherboard that can support two processor which is probably really expensive to so i would say the dual core with one processor is the best.

Not to mention that the choices are much more limited, and its harder to find what you want.

Dual core is better. It is cheaper and it is more practical than buying a motherboard with 2 processor slots

Dual Core Processor price < 2 Regular processor price
 
Dual processor would perform better, due to their being two active FSB's, in dual core single CPU all that processing capability is queezed through just one FSB, with two CPUS there must be two FSB's and two "pathways" to things such as RAM etc..... so performance = dual CPU, price = dual core.
 
I'm not the smartest, but I say stick with the dual core... the dual processors can amplify the heat in the case (if you don't have a two great heat sink and fans on them).... The Cooler it is the faster and easier it runs......
 
Hey, isn't this in the Laptop & Handheld section? You're not going to find that many portable hardware with multiple CPU's- there wouldn't be room for it, multiple heatsinks/fans, and will generate too much heat like Pricesnightmare said. As for Dual Core in notebooks, it's the way to go - better multitasking and better battery life. Technology advances for the better, the world shifting to Yonahs (dual or single) or 64-bit is not a downgrade.
