Dual monitors on this?

I have a computer running this GPU

AGP nVidia 6200

It has one VGA and one DVI port and I am wondering if there is a way to run dual monitors from this card. It does not specify that it can run two monitors, but is there a way to do so? Thanks

It can, as for the adapters, you can get them dirt cheap on ebay.

I am not challanging either of your knowledge here, but how do you know for sure that this GPU can support a second monitor? I see on some products it says "Dual link DVI supported" or something along those lines

ex, this card 8800GTS

I would LOVE to run a second monitor for multitasking, its a dream in my opinion. I want to ensure i can though before i buy a second lcd.

Thanks.

If theres two ports it can dual monitor dude its not that complicated...

Dont get nasty... It is obvious if it has dual identical ports like some of these high end cards with two DVIs. This one, in case you didnt check the link or thoroughly read my post (which i am sure you did not) has a single dvi and a single vga. It is not obvious to what its capibilities are, espically when the spec do not note them.

Yes I did read your post and yes it is possible. I ran dual monitors on my 7300GS which was set up the same way. I used a DVI-VGA adapter for the second monitor since at the time I didnt have two LCDS yet.

Well thank you for the advice, I do appreciate it.

actually you do just plug and play, lol. Then right click on your desktop and go to properties. Click on the last tab that says 'settings' and there will be a tab an option that walks you through how to do it. Very easy, or your card should have come with nvidia software that will also let you set it up. You can either mirror the two screens or have one as a an extension of your main screen.

I think I want to run the second as an extension. I think it would be great to have a game up and have several aim conversations running simultaneously. I worked last summer using dual monitors and fell in love with it. Thank you so much for the help. :)

Gaming with duals gets tricky since if you move off one monitor the game may act weird, or not let you move off of it at all. I tried playing WarRock like this and it was impossible because if you turned, your cursor would trail to the other monitor leaving you stuck. Most games will require you to disable the second monitor before you start.

Make sure you have the drivers install and then you should be able to change it to dual screen.

I have dual screen at school for the school Light + sound team for recording and that's what we have done and it working fine.

Just with your screens, make sure that your screens are the same in size etc, otherwise it will not look very good if they are different sizes.

The adaptors off ebay are about $10AU or so they are cheap.

Or even better if you have 'a' screen with DVI as an imput you could just get a DVI to DVI lead and it that way. - But your choice.

Good luck

Yeah. With gaming, you most likely won't be able to play the game on one screen and IM on the other. I've been running dual monitors for about a year and a half, and when you click on the other screen to type, the game will minimize. (Unless someone knows a fix for that). Otherwise, extension monitors are amazing; especially when copying files to many folders. (Then you don't have windows piled up on each other)

Yeah i worked in an engineering office using dual monitors and loved it. Its great, I would love to have it here at home.

Is the true about the gaming? That you need to disable the second monitor in order to play the game. Does anyone else have some experience with this? Thank you.

Depends on the game. BF2 does OK with Dual Extended monitors, but the other screen has to adjust to that resolution too... and that gets on my nerves (basing this offa FX5200).

What about wow, thats the main game i play. I would love to have wow running on one screen and then aim windows and CF on the other, lol
