Maybe 1MHz increase in bus speed simply won't be reported... Bump it up some, say, 30-50MHz and see if that does it... even if it fails to boot (BSOD, whatever) at least you know that it's OCing since it's gone unstable, though that kinda increase should be easily achievable at stock volts.

man the EP45 is a great clocker.

set the clock speed to 400x9, vCore to 1.375, vDIMM to 2.1V, all memory settings on auto except for the multiplier which should be 2.00

edit: you were running your RAM out of spec, run the memory multiplier at 2.00B or 2.00D

tried your settings bios just resets..wont post at 3.6 any other ideas like clockscrews? or any other bios settings:D

go through all the settings on the RAM and make sure they are set to auto.

when bubblescivic had problems with clocking his, I found that the advanced timing settings for the RAM had some weird settings.

ok i put everything at auto and nothing..the only thing that sticks is my ram is set at 1/1 instead of 5/6

Maybe I'm confused, but when you raise the FSB say 5MHz, what happens? Does it not boot or does it not register the overclock?

Try resetting the CMOS via the jumper, it worked on my X48 when the computer wouldn't boot when I changed the voltage.

it doesnt register the overclock

are they channel A/B timing and driving settings set to auto?

if that won't work, what BIOS version do you have? Maybe flashing the BIOS to the newest version would help, I'm not sure.

and also, will the computer POST if you set the FSB to 333 manually with the CPU host clock control enabled?

try OC'ing the chip on another mobo if you have one available, and test another chip on that gigabyte mobo. this will rule out of it's just a horrible chip or the mobo

I just reset the Cmos and all i did was change it from auto to manual put in 333 for fsb and it still gave me overclocking error in bios.. says failed to boot because of overclocking or volts change..what does that sound like? and yes the timings are at auto

Hi everyone, I am glad that the thread problem was solved..I just wanted to say that I am successfully running my e8400 at 4.00ghz with the rig in my sig..

It is running absolutely wonderful and just normal temps..for o/c...Also I have been running at 4.00ghz for about 3 and a half weeks now...
