Ive tried so many times and nothing....looked on google and cant seem to find a fix?
Loads of People have had this problem on other forums and the members there mentioned contacting Microsoft....and they microsoft told them to contact rockstar..and contacting them got them nowhere

Any help appreciated!

pff they can go and screw lol.....its not the game....its windows live that wont let me sign in.

The game accepts my key,its just Windows live!

Im looking on the main microsoft site right now to contact support,But it gives you loads of options to choose from and im not sure which is the right place.

You could try and see if XLiveless will work for you, it does however disable multiplayer. But at least you could play single player until you get everything sorted out with tech support.

I agree, DRM has gone too far. A lot of games nowadays are too much of a hassle, especially when they have limits on how often you can install the game on different setups.

Clearly, either you registered the CD key with another account, or someone has already
registered with your CD key.

I don't have the game so I don't know how this works. By the looks of it, Windows Live
uses your hotmail login, so once you have added the game to your account, you
shouldn't need to add it again.

Email Rockstar and begin a recovery process. You will need a picture of your CD key to
prove you are the owner of the account.

It is Games For Windows Live that's causing trouble, not SecuROM. This means that it is Microsoft who need to be contacted, not Rockstar. It's a matter of reactivating the product key.

So i contacted Rockstar support, they said its a problem on Windows live side...i already know that but im getting nowhere with them...he gave me another number which was dead.....

Im so pissed about this! There just isnt any support out there....looks like il have to buy another copy of the game now!

Try calling microsoft, and when they give you the runaround say you want the number you were "supposed" to call. Then once you call that number, immediately ask for a supervisor.

I had the same problem! Except with a different game, Red Alert 3. I'm not sure about GTA IV, but RA3 had a thing where you can install as much as you want on any computer. But it can only be registered 5 times to play online. Once you've used those 5 registers you have to buy a new game. Something called SecuroCrom (Or something like that).

Not sure if its entirely relavant to your problems but good luck in getting through to peopl that'll help you over the phone.

Its actualy not easy to speak to anyone from microsoft, not in the uk anyway.

they give you all these automated option things you have to choose from and as expected my problem was not mentioned...and there wasnt an option just to talk to a rep.

so basicly i had to just select anything then when i got through to someone explain what my problem is...then i just get the run around all over again.

I just am not getting anywhere....

Does anyone know if the Steam version of GTA iv requires this games for windows live crap?
Because i think il end up having to buy a new copy,Im not happy about it though

Well, you can always use the key from another games for windows game if you have one.

So i don't have to dig my fallout box when i want to install it I just keep my Gears of War out and use the key from that. Unless you plan on playing both games at once it will work fine, the games for windows keys are universal, so work on any game that is a game for windows game

i dont have a 360 so i would have to go out and buy one + a copy of gta iv.....i realy dont want to buy any more microsoft junk after all this.

lol they aren't THAT bad, just overpriced. This is a one off thing for one game, i mean all other g4wl games work fine installation after installation, they just skimped with GTA4

Its their non existant customer support that annoys me,The people i spoken too on the phone had no clue what i was on about, kept re-directing me from one dept to another.

Why the hell Rockstar used this Windows live is boyond me its utter crap.
