Hey guy my motherboard got 2 ram slots .. and i reliase that it is not enough for me .. so i wonder if there is anything that can expand the ram slot or something ? i got 2 ( 256mb of ram ) yeep ..

Expand the RAM slot as in... phsyically add another slot? If so then no... you would need to buy a new motherboard. You could just upgrade your RAM...

Actully..... it is possible, its called a RAM daughterboard.... except the thing is, you still wont be able to put 4gb on a 2gb mobo as the limit is still there... its cheaper and easier to just get bigger RAM chips

Like these for SIMMs:

What you are talking about wouldn't work. The BIOS would have to support the extension, and the system would have to be build to accept the daughtercard.

The only systems with such cards are servers, or very very old desktops.

The daughtercards you linked are for Compaq "Proliant" SERVERS. We have several of those old systems at work. Not only is the Compaq Proliant a server, those riser cards will only work with the Proliant servers they were built for.

Read my previous post.. :-)

The other poster was mistaken, as that won't work for you.

to accept? not really, its not like a RAID card or anything..... just combines the chips into one via wire, i had some for SDRAM for my Compaq that i bought last year... but like i said they are LIKE thoes, except they differ in type (DDR, SD, EDO, SIMM) i never said thoes cards would work for him, just that RAM Daughtercards are out there... and the only thing that would cause it not to work is if you put 1gig or ram in a 512 system, RAM size is still limited... but if you wanted to get that 512 via 4x128s insted of 2x256s, then you need a daughterboard for the RAM

You weren't listening to me. First of all, you were using a Compaq, and that system was most likely proprietary (or old, and perhaps even both). Second, the BIOS and system would have to be built to accept the card. Third, SIMM's/DIMM's aren't even in the same category as DDR, and SD. SIMM's and DIMM's are a type of layout that DDR or SD would follow with the circuitry design. Forth, as I said really really old technology used RAM daughtercards, such as EDO.

Also, why would you want to get more memory latches that would end up being the same total capacity? That makes absolutely no sense.

thats what i originally said, its a pain in the ass and less time/money consuming if you just get bigger sticks of memory, just make sure they are the right size, type, and speed... but in my compaq i bought a expansion card for some asain computer and it worked in every computer i put it in

Sure it worked; in every computer you put it in, that had EDO memory, and a daughtercard slot with support for it in the BIOS. What kind of memory did your Compaq have? I am betting it had EDO memory.

So you are telling me, that the daughtercard worked in every DDR/SDRAM and EDO system you put it in... Right, and this daughtercard is magically cross platform as well I take it?

I am saying it won't work, that's not the same thing as it's a pain or that it costs more.

jeeze.... liek i said, MINE wasnt EDO, mine was an SD card, i just searched ebay in like, 2 seconds to bring up an example, doesnt mean its what i used

Yes, it was an SDRAM daughtercard, for a Proliant server.

So you just posted an SDRAM latch, and an EDO latch.. This proves what exactly?

Also, those EDO latches are not what Proliant servers use. Servers used daughtercards via a special slot on the motherboard for them, rather they use EDO/SD or DDR. The Proliant servers used SDRAM, and they had daughtercards.
