Far Cry 2 any good?

Hey guys, i wanted to know if this game is any good? my friend lent me his copy for a while.

Any pros/cons about this game?
 
Pros.
1. Looks Good.

Cons.
1. Not a TRUE open world. (as promised)
2. Not everything is destructible. (as promised)
3. Only 4 quests to do for the entire game.
4. Multilayer sucks.
5. AI have horribly fast respawns.
6. AI vehicles super speed so you can never out run them.
7. Malaria.
8. Weapons do random damage sometimes a HS wont do anything,
9. Silencers 1 shot = entire base after you (includes knife kills)
10. Enemy takes pop shots 1+ miles away from you.

Pretty neat till you do the same 3 quests 20 times then it really sucks. The game in its entirety sucks and I was really dissapointed with UBI being as I was a huge fan of Far Cry. They shouldn't have called this Far Cry 2 as it has nothing to do with the game franchise.

I wont be buying another UBI or EA title till I see gamer reviews.
 
I would say that it was good, not the second coming of Christ everyone expected. but its a very ambitious game. with some cool features
 
its pretty and that's just about it. singleplayer is boring and repetitive. i stopped playing around 10% of the game, never played it since.
 
Stopped playing almost straight out of the tutiorial part of the game... Give it a try but yeah you'll probably play no more than 10%

Yes, it shouldnt have been called FC2. maybe something like Repetetive Africa Malaria Free Roam or something. I hear that ubi's tech support is non existent? I cant actually get the game to run... i borrowed it from a friend.
splash screen appears then disappears, and no game runs. does with benchy tool, editor and game.
 
For $20 it's still a little disappointing. Maybe I will enjoy my investment better once I can max it out. I haven't tried the multiplayer and from all the comments I've read about it I don't intend to.
 
Man, sounds like a real disappointment. I played the first one and really liked it. Guess I won't buy the second unless steam weekend deals it for at the most $10.
 
ah yeah! i also hate that when you massacred an entire camp of soldiers and travel on to your destination, when you go back the other way where you killed the soliders, they're back again!
 
Has anyone got the issue where you can't get past the splash screen? i have it, and i really want to play! even though my specs are just over the minimum! Latest drivers and such, but still nothing! i'll try it on my vista computer once i get the ram so it can start up...

I don't think I got more than half way though single player before I just gave up... always the same boring missions, drive half an hour and kill some dude.. drive another half hour and kill the other dude... back and forth!

The graphics are very nice but thats it.
 
LOl, judging by other comments, it seems that I made it the furthest into the game hahah


has anyone beaten the game?
 
The game is almost there, but just doesn't have it. For such a vehicle based game, the vehicles sort of suck. They should have included a customizable setup for the cars. Such as adding armor, guns, missiles, and that sort of stuff.

There is a good framework for a better game there, but it falls short. I don't like having to drive cross country over and other again. It gets old.

all of the above is true, except i thought far cry 2 looked like shit !
 
its worth saying that far cry 2 (on its highest settings, for those who turn games down and then whine about graphics) looks very good. but other than that, i thought a few of the guns were fun to shoot, the physics were not bad, and burning plains was fun too. besides that, the game blows.
