1. What is conroe, is it a new AMD chip or something?

2. What changes exactly. Prices, Sockets etc

Are the RAM's timings good enough. Shud i look for something that has low CAS or something along the lines of PC4000. Coz they have like CAS timings of 4. But they are more expensive?

The conroe is the new intel chip and the KL8 is the new AMD chip. They are both supposedly very very very good! And there will be a price drop in both the older models of intels chips and AMDs chips

Correct me if im wrong^

Well these conroe chips are gona be well out of my price range. I was hoping to buy and build my computer quite soon. I guess i cud wait until the end of July to build it. Will anything else be dropping in price, or is it only the AMD and pentium chips?

IF this is for watching movies too. Then go for an audigy 4 or a x-fi. The audigy 4 runs about $70 usd (don't know what that will be in uk) The x-fi $120 usd.

ye i will be watching films on it. I guess it wud be a wise thing to iinvest in som good sound. But then im gona have to buy som good speakers to benefit from a better card right??

yes you need good speakers, or else you'll be putting the good soundcard to waste.

What kind of speakers do you have now? Also if you are going to watch movies I wouldn't think you would want to watch them with 5 watt speakers.

the speakers i have now are TINY (the brand that is ^^) They are about 6-7 years old and as you cud imagine crap. I think ill upgrade these wen i get the cash

As for speakers, I got a set of Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers, I love them and they're cheap.

Having got space to have 5 speakers. Will be goin for a 2.1 setup, maybe even just 2.0. I will mostly be playing my online games with a headset. Can any1 recommend a good headset. Also can ppl plz recommend good speakers (2.1 or 2.0 setup only)

The conroe is intel's new chip, have AMD got anything in the pipeline to compete witht is. I know AM2 is out but are these chips ust more energy efficient. Do u think the new AMD chips wud be in my price range (if there are any coming out the same time as the Intel's)??

Or shud i just stick with the X2 3800 and wait for it price to drop?

Clock speeds aren't everything. A general equation for comparing two cards is:

Core Clock x Pixelpipelines =

Of course, there are many other factors, though these two are the most important. So, for that reason
the 7600GT (560 x 12 = 6720) is worse than the 7900GT (450 x 24 = 10800)

Wow so there is quite a difference. Thx for this lil equation :)

I thought the 7900 wud be better, but i was just checking :)
