anyone had a chance to have a go on this one yet. Fantastic graphics from Sqauresoft as usual although the battle engine is taking a bit of getting used to.

already beaten it :D it is one of the harder fantasies next to final fantasy for the 8bit nintendo. they really made the other version of it too easy.

i just got it! the graphics are pretty nice. but the combat style needs time to get used to. this is my first FF, hope it wouldn't be too hard. :)

Ah the release snuck up on me, now I've got another game to buy..This year sucks (costing too much :D) and is great at the same time. I'll have to pick this one up soon.

Of the 'new' FFs I think 7 was the best with 9 close behind. For the whole series, I think 4 and 6 are in contention for the best.

well, 7-9 for me were the best... 8 was a great game two ya know!

10 was good because of the voice overs for thoes long 18+ hour streaks of playing the game and you get bored of reading......

the series is just getting to sloppy....

I thought the characters in 8 were weak. 10 was ok, but as you said the series has become 'we can put out what ever crap we want they will buy it anyway' which is unfortunate.

yeah, they are kinda sold out to me now.... besides, Aaron was learning white magic.... dont ask, i was young and the sphere grid was pretty :P

8's story and charactors were unique compared to the rest of the series to me..

Yeah by the end of 10 all my characters had nearly every ability/skill/magic (yay for 100% completion). I liked 8 but on the whole I think it is one of the weaker installments.

lol, i was just installing FF7 again and i was reading this:

Yeah, FF7 crashes at the chocobo races under XP, google the chocobo patch and you should be able to find it, if not PM me and I'll send you the link.

As far as final fantasy goes I've not played any since FF7... Unless you count a few hours of final Fantasy X which I have for ps2 (never liked it much). Just got final fantasy Chrystal Chronicles on gamecube though. Also looking forward to final fantasy III on the DS.

final fantasy VII was one of the best, great storyline too it and has been one of the major successes for square, as can be seen by the amount of spin offs for it..FFVII advent children, dirge of cerberus amongst others

VIII was a bit weak on characters but they pulled it back nicely for IX.

X was cracking i thought for the move over to PS2, just recently played it again to completion and still love it, although X-2 was a bit of a cop out, seeing as they could use much of the same artwork again for this game. However it was still a pretty good game when it got going and nciely finished off the storyline between the two games

XII so far has looked stunning, beautiful graphics and some great changes to the gameplay.

The new battle system really does take some getting used to but then square do like to make changes with each installement, this one seems to be an evolvment of the ATB system, quite tricky but allows the game to continue and no more cracking screens every five seconds for a battle.

The gambit system is qquite clever and fairly intuitive once you start using it, a really useful addition to the battle system.

Its tough though, have found taht you really need to work on getting those levels up to progress this game, defiantely advise taking on the side quests whenever you can to get up to standard, some of the hunts later on can really screw you over if your not up to at least level 60

Good stuff so far, cant wait to see how XIII looks on the PS3, that should be something special :)

Final Fantasy 12 was the first Final Fantasy X-play gave a perfect 5 out of 5. I have it...sort of. I haven't played it yet though.
