This is in Australian Dollars and it will cost around $2000 dollars. I am not sure if the 600mhz ram is compatible with the dfi mobo or not. Should i get a dvd writer as well as a cd writer? And the case already has a psu, but I was advised to get a stronger psu, is this ok?And is there anything I can improve on?

EDIT: The Ram may or may not acturally operate at PC4800 speeds. It is possiable that it would downclock it to pc3200 speeds. It also possiable it would keep it at pc4800 speeds. Either way the ram should work in the computer asuming it 184 pin DDR memory.

Should i go for the 3200 then overclock?
I overclocked my pc a while ago, , which was my first time, but I was a bit conscious , after that cos, it would crash and it would be unstable, so i put it back to normal. And i'm not very experienced in it. So I don't know whether I want to oc this new pc

i think the 939 ASUS performs better than that DFI..
too bad it doesnt.

should i get an lcd or crt?
new topic = new thread... keeps things clean

@shiwen
1. whats the system used for?
2. you can get the logitech z-640 5.1 speakers for cheaper
3. other ram you might want to consider are the OCZ vx and mushkin redline series
4. id avoid lg for optical drives, some ideas at CD/DVD 101.

lol...i am only 15 years old.And I have changed the case, thrown out the separate psu, and chosen a 8ms lcd, got the mx-518 and elite kb, changed the speakers. The psu in the case is 400W. Is this enough for my rig? Australian dollars remember :P

, and chosen a 8ms lcd
1. if you dont need/want a lcd then dont jump on the bandwagon to get one
2. you only need the low timings of that lcd if yer into gaming (even then you gotta consider the videocard+native resolution etc)... which is why i aksed what the intention was

got the mx-518 and elite kb
very nice setup

the PSU in the case is 400w. is this enough for my rig?
i have a quick PSU 101 here but the just of it is "the wattage doesnt matter if the power is being delivered on the wrong rail"

i wont mention again but i'd seriously advise you avoid lg for opticak drives. CD/DVD 101.

Ok, I can't find any ocz ram on the net in australia. The pc will be for work as well gaming.
And I have chosen the NEC, which was listed second on your dvd writers list. By the way, what's wrong with lg?

Whoa ... no OCz ram down-under??? Whoa. In either case your current RAM is pretty good.

And I have chosen the NEC, which was listed second on your dvd writers list. By the way, what's wrong with lg?
LG drives have a lower than average lifespan as well as a less robust featureset

I did a quick search for ocz ram on staticice search...but maybe i didn't look hard enough...I'l go look again. Is ocz good overclocking ram? ANd is it better to get 1*1gig stick or 2*512mb sticks?

EDIT: ok, I found it.

have a look at OC 101 and RAM 101
OCz make all sorts of ram from their low end value stuff to their fancy 3200 stuff and their new VX stuff (which is what i suggeseted). If you want to get VX make sure you get active cooling for your RAM (which means essentially a simple fan)
