Actually this is my first time ever building a computer, but it seems like a fun and challenging thing to do, and knowing you built the thing your fraggin everyone with is the icing on the cake XD. anyways, I have been doing a lot of researching and I would like your input on what i have chosen. (I have not selected any memory yet so that wont be there, if I am missing anything let me know) (also all the peripherals keyboard, speakers, mouse, etc. doesn't matter, i'm more focused on the computer, but if you have any input on them let me know)

case: Auzentech GMC R-4 Bulldozer Case -$99

keyboard:Saitek Cyborg Keyboard -$79.95

mouse: iHome 3 button wireless optical mouse -$24.99

speakers: SpecResearch YT-630 2.0 Speaker -$4.99

HardDrive: Western Digital Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5 Internal HardDrive -$74.99

cpu: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Wolfdale 2.8GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor -$119.99

motherboard: ASUS M3A76-CM AM2+/AM2 AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard -$64.99

power supply: Sunbeam PSU-HUSH680-US-BL 680W ATX 12V 2.0 Power Supply -$39.99

Cpu fan: COOLER MASTER RR-CCH-L9U1-GP 92mm Hyper TX2 CPU Cooler -$19.99

CD/ROM drive: HP 410125-100 48X CD-ROM OEM - 48x, SATA -$7.99

OS: Windows Vista Home Prem 64-bit DSP OEM DVD -$109.99

I have yet to choose a video card, I am trying to find one between $75-$100

I have now chosen a video card here it is

Videocard: XFX PVT96OZDFU GeForce 9600 GSO 1GB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card -$79.99

hold up, are you trying to put a Intel core 2 duo processor into an amd motherboard? you would have to change the motherboard to an intel lga 775 board.

Yeah I was gonna say the same thing. You need to either change your motherboard or your processor so that they match.

That case is horrible, room for one optical drive and only room for two hard drives... Dont get a core 2 processor, go for phenom II and an am2+/am3 motherboard.

OK i will try to find another motherboard. and as for the dvd drive if you look up the case on xoxide.com you will see that it is a vertical setup, as for the harddrive, i believe it goes inside the case :3. as for the Cpu I am on a budget and I am trying to keep my CPU price at 100$ I am going to have to find another cpu because I have an AMD Motherboard

ok guys what do you think about this cpu?

AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor -$89.99

also i went with the power supply you recommended, it does seem much better for the price.

first off, why would I get a triple core processor for 10$ more than getting the quad core for 89$

second: I had a question about my DVD/ROM Drive: i'm paying $7.99 for it. am I getting a crap drive? or should i try to get something better?

I also had a quesiton about my computer case. It says under specs "motherboard compatibility: ATX". Does this mean that I have to buy an ATX motherboard? if so whats different about it? or can I just just keep the on i have already planned to buy?

it means that atx motherboard will fit in it.

ack! i forgot to choose memory! what do you guys recommend? i i only need enough to play (mind you, im on a budget >.<)

I have now chosen some memory, here goes.

Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT25664AA667 -$44.99

it seems pretty well, but i need feedback.

oh and as for an update my price for the computer will be $651.91, But, I may have the os so that will rack off $100 and i can get 30$ off the case if bought from newegg, but I am still skeptical becaus ei dont know if it comes with everything here are the two websites i have to choose from buying. let me know which is a better deal (look at specs not price) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811110017 or http://www.xoxide.com/auzentech-gmc-bulldozer-case.html

I wouldn't get that RAM because it is only 667MHz which is slow you should at least get 800MHz

Get at least DDR2 1066 as that's what the board runs.

If you're still getting the Asus board from the first page
of this thread.
