First time computer build! Assistance needed!

And how about this memory...

Corsair XMS2 DHX 4096MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB)

Awesome...and for the video card. How about 1 of these

EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Video Card - 1GB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV

Explain to me the difference between a 1GB and 512mb Video Card...

Thank you!

difference between 1GB and 512MB is speed. like ram just on a video card.

Nope then should run smoothly. :)
No problem. :)
The only thing i would switch is the case to the antec 900...
But then again it is personal preference.. unless you want a COLD case :)

Hope this helps. :)

<Off Topic>

Just got to Gold member. :D

Great!

Another question..

Do I need to buy a sound card with this mb? Also..I want the capibility to use both wireless and ethernet networking. I have a wireless usb adapter already, so if I just buy an ethernet adapter, that will cover the cabled connection..but will my usb wireless adapter plug and play?

No a sound card is not required. :)
This motherboard has a ethernet port on it so no worries. :)
It should plug in and play if it doesn't check out the manufacturers website for some drivers.

Hops this helps. :)

Ok. A sound card is not required, but how would the sound be "stock". I should mention that the system will be hooked up to a separate stereo...

Depends.
How you like the sound.
My stock sound is perfectly fine.
From my P35-DS3R.
And like 9 year old speakers. :P

I'm not sure if you would be able to hook your computer up to a stereo.. you probably should but i'm not 100% sure on that. Another member would probably be more then happy to check for you. :)

Hope this helps. :)

I hear people talking about running their Hard Drives in with Raid 0...

Can someone please explain this to me.

Couple more questions..

I'm looking at running XP Pro 64bit. Would this be a good choice?

What is so bad about the GTS Video Card compared to the GT? Just wandering :D

I can't thank you guys enough!

I run XP Pro 64 Bit... i don't see why you can't run it....

and we are here for help and there are "heaps" of people willing to help anyone out.

after playing around with vista for the past day i seem to like it but there are a few things i don't like but i would go for the 64 bit vista ultimate if you were to go for vista.

I can't thank you guys enough!

The GTS uses the old G80 Core.
The new GT uses the new G92 Core..
Thats about it.
And the GT runs cooler..

Hope this helps. :)
