One thing, that i do recommend is that you don't go for DDR3, it is not worth the money at the moment and it is to expensive.

Otherwise, all you need is a CPU fan and your good to go, you should have fun.

all those are built around DDR3 i'd have to change everything ;[

The CPU says it has a heatsink and fan with it so i didnt think id need a new one

I agree, don't go with DDR3, its not worth your money right now.

Yes the CPU has a heatsink, but what scooter was suggesting was to get an aftermarket heatsink so you can overclock your CPU.

The PSU is overkill, 750 would be plenty.

I'd get a 4870 X2 instead of 2 4870... or maybe a single 280 GTX.

The 2 4870 (ATI card) won't work on an nvidia board which is meant for SLI (2 nvidia cards) not Crossfire (2 ATI cards)

I still think the Q9650 is too pricy, but that's me.

And I thought you were ordering from Canada, if so, go for NCIX prices right away.

yes it would work on it... a single card will work on any board, but with the 790i, you can only use a combination of 2 nvidia cards or 1 of any card.

I don't suggest nvidia boards unless you go SLI since they aren't as capable as intel based boards, but that is not always true.

is there anything that will work better then the gx280 1gb- it says on newegg they had a 3.2ghz processor and this card and it couldn't run crysis in high quality.........................................................
maybe 2 cheaper cards combined? That will work for the 789i FTW MB

That would suck for gaming, in fact, it wouldn't even work because that motherboard supports SLi and only SLi. If you want CrossFire (2 X ATi cards) you'd need a motherboard that supports CrossFire. Other than that, pshh, that rig would be a killer gaming machine ;)

I'm guessing $ is not an issue to you, you just want the best uh?

ugh... I want the 790i FTW motherboard, so what is my best graphics card combo for that. If im using DDR2 RAM I need the DDR2 motherboard? ok so the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 280 SLI is definately the best?

The best possible combo would be 2 280 GTX, but in some cases 1 280 GTX would be better. Also, I am not sure if the CPU would be a bottleneck for a SLI'ed 280 GTX.
