FX-57 vs. FX-60

FX-60 is dual core but its clocked 200 Mhz slower.

EDIT: Beat me

LOL, three responses at the same time.

FX-57 = fast single core.

FX-60 = fast dual core.

The FX-60 is a damn good CPU, if you have the money I highly insist that you get it :)

EDIT: Damn you guys beat me by 12 seconds :(

FX-60 is dual core so its going to be a better investment, ecspecially when your spending upwards of 1K on a processor.

FX-57 = Single Core
FX-60 = Dual Core

The FX-60 is 200Mhz slower, but much better!

EDIT: You beat me by 10 minutes ;)

in overall desktop performance it is 15% better, but in some games the FX57 actully performes better then the FX60, and by alot. These are the words OF AMD themselfs, read/see more.(benchmarks by AMD)

IT depends on what your useing it for for which is better.

It's also theoretically more future proof, because later on mroe and mroe thigns will be diesgned and work better with dual cores, but the thing is by that time, your going to want anoher CPU anyways

Thats because most current games and some benchmark tests are only single threaded. In games such as Quake 4, CoD2, and a few others that support dual-cores, the FX-60 will be much better.

:)

Also if you look at the benchmark for Quake 4 they did, it only performs 4% better.

But it IS an improvement, not to mention it has a slower clock speed.

Dual-core is also much better for general use and multi-tasking.

I dont think 4% inporvment on a game is worth the extra money.

and Thats why im saying it depends on what he uses it for, for gaming IMO i wouldn;t get it, because if you have that much momney to spend on a CPU your going to want tp upgrade again before most games truely utialize dual core.

i would relaly just look at the page i linked and look at the different programs you use and decide which ones you use what the performace differences are, and which is better then for you.

I have the FX-60 and I love it. I also have it running at 2.8 GHz with a simple multiplier change and no discernable increase in temps. I vote for the FX60 due to the dual core, because when you need it, you will love it.

heh... they both play at the elite performance... i doubt you would notice any difference on the gameplaying screen unless your looking at the FPS... but you won't be able to tell the difference on the actual gameplaying (unless your being all technical and 180 FPS insn't enough, and you need 200FPS... which is dumb even tho 200FPS is better, you won't notice a difference)
