I bought this card about 3 years ago, for $180 shipped from Newegg. LINK HERE
So, it rocked for about 2 years, then one day I just lost signal to my monitor.
I couldn't get it to work, so I took it out and used the GeForce 6100 onboard I had at the time. Miserable gaming with onboard, but at least I could play.
Anyway, I ran the onboard for a couple days and decided to try the card again,
and it WORKED. It worked for about a week, then lost signal again. After that, it worked until I got an 8600GTS, so I retired the card at that point.
It was a decent card, and actually worked just as well as the new 8600GTS.
I've used the card now and again in my kids pc (the same pc it was in originally) and it does the same thing, just loses signal.
Does anyone know what it might be? I've removed the heatsink and applied some AS5 a couple different times but it doesn't help.
I wondered about the "oven" method but I don't know if this particular card could be a candidate for that or not. Those caps kind of worry me a bit.
