Glass effect

WindowBlinds doesn't take up a lot of memory at all. In fact, it builds itself right into the theme, so it hardly takes up any memory/extra processes (AFAIK).

To quote:

Unlike previous versions, WindowBlinds 5 requires no extra process to run; it loads up as an extension to Windows XP and replaces Microsoft's own theme system. Wardell hopes the change will finally put to rest complaints that WindowBlinds is not "native," and says the release can even improve default interface performance by tapping into DirectX.

Wait, You have to buy WB to get the glass effect, Bummer :(

but I want the whole OS (50percent downloaded oh yeah!)

How are you downloading it, isn't that kinda illegal?

I guess what Rambo says explains why I didn't notice any performance change while running WB5, compared to in the past when I tried WB3 and 4 and I could tell resources where getting sucked up.

Anyway Kornowski, I recommend just spending the 20 bucks and getting WB5. I mean, if you don't want to get Vista yet, and you really want that glass effect, 20 bucks is not a bad price. If you go out to a movie and get a bite to eat afterwards you will have spent 20 bucks right there. Anyway, that's how I justified it. :) But for me... I just enjoy having my computer look nicer - and if you notice from that long list of links I posted, you can see that there is a lot more out there for WB than for regular msstyles.

You can purchase WB5 here: http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/
And the theme that I am using is called Vista 2.4. It is toward the bottom of my long list, but here is the link again: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40338929

And here is the sample picture from Deviantart.

Yeah, there is a lot to windows blinds but I don't think I'm willing to spend $20 to have the glass effect, I guess it isn't that important... But thanks for the suggestions... :D

No problem! Just put those 20 bucks toward your purchase of Vista one day. :D

There's a free Vista transformation pack here for XP, also comes with an uninstall but does replace some system files.

http://tech.cybernetnews.com/2006/12/26/vista-transformation-pack-6-for-windows-xp2003-releasedwow/

You can actually get it pretty close to Vista using programs that are free from Microsoft that won't screw up your computer, check this link out:

It won't get you the Glass Effect but it's pretty close to looking like Vista. Besides Glass 2k the only way I know of getting the Glass Effect is by getting the pro version of Windows Blinds.
